Douglas, What's happened to you back there? You've been off my OT list for a good 2-3 days in a row?!!?!!?! P638's got you down? Don't worry, I've reeled in 9 of them lately so I'm sure you'll catch right back up as now my production will nosedive as well... Dave PS Congrats to tomcat as well! You'v...

Ed, You da man! 8) Quick question -- when you say the af92ct is the quietest fan you've ever owned -- is that due to it never running full tilt? (due to thermistor) How do you think it would compare to your 92m1b if both were running at the same rpm/voltage? I may try shorting the thermistor tomorro...

Regarding vibrations, I read in another forum where a guy used shower pan liner (from Home Depot/Lowes) to dampen his aluminum case -- it's a sheet material that's used on the backside of acrylic shower stalls/tubs to dampen the sound of water and create a more "solid" feeling. I think he said that ...

Acoustically speaking, the AF92CT is quieter than any other fan I have ever owned, with the exception of the still quieter AF80CT; quieter indeed than any of the Panaflos in my possession Just curious -- how do you overcome the CT series thermal control to get an apples to apples comparison? (I.e.,...

I have a Dell PowerEdge server set up the same way -- 4 pins, 2 black on a square molex. Dell told me they were both grounds, but I can't say that I ever verified that. Someday I might try to swap the fans for something more "acoustically pleasing", but since the thing is in a closet, it doesn't rea...

Here's a review that shows a bunch of possibilities (both those that work and those that don't) for cooling down the Overture.

I tried to match the area of opening between the slots and the holes as close as possible -- the slots have a little more area but I figure that the holese are less restrictive from a turbulence standpoint I really haven't thought about dremeling out the slots and probably won't unless the fan start...

I've got a 7000alcu and an SP-94 (intel version of the SP-97). The Zalman was fine on my oc'd P4 2.4B, but couldn't handle my P4 3.06 upgrade (had to dial up the fan too much). I run the SP-94 with a 92mm M1bx (6v) and am very happy. The zalman stayed with the oc'd 2.4B in a new machine -- decoupled...

ONEshot, Thanks -- dryer vent is aluminum ducting that snaps together to form a 4" diameter pipe about 3' long. You attach a bunch together to vent a clothes dryer out of the house. I took one section and cut it up into the pieces I needed to form the PSU duct. You can get dryer vent in Lowes, Home ...

That's why I switched from a 2.4b (oc'd to 2.8 ) to a 3.06 (w/ HT). Not much difference in clockspeed, but big difference in system response.josephclemente wrote:The hyperthreading is cool - now I see what everyone was talking about when the computer responds very well during heavier multitasking.

120mm: Papst 4412 or Panaflo M1A ?

Just curious why you're looking at the medium and high speed panaflo's and not the L1A (which still pushes more air than the papst).

I agree, please put the PSU cover back on -- it makes me squeamish just looking at it. Talk about an accident waiting to happen. As for the PSU heat with the cover, it's gotta be cooler than when it was in the case. In the case you're pumping hot air through it, out of the case you're putting ambien...

Chu... FWIW, while I think "stupid" is more than a little strong, I have to agree that comparisons based on airflow make more sense. Can I assume you want to see a comparison similar to this thread ? Note that the airflows listed in that thread are not measured but are based on the assumption that a...

Lightning, Be aware that filling up the queue will adversely affect your performance fraction -- which is how F@H assigns WU's (at least, how they used to -- did that change with rebalancing the Tinker/Gro points?). FWIW, I run 2 or 3 at a time on my HT box at home -- after DLing the units, I look a...

p932 Dgro -- this is getting ridiculous?
I've got a new Dgro that I haven't seen before -- it's getting 1990ppw on a P4 2.4B that's currently in use (CAD drafting)! Compare this to the p638 Tinker that I have running under identical circumstances (P4 2.4B, CAD drafting) that is getting only 420ppw. Good thing those protein points were reba...

Joseph, Just thought I thank you for your mod idea -- I finished it last weekend in my BQE (I got a black mesh cup from Staples) and it took my temps from 55 down to 34 on my P4 3.06 (full load, running fans @ ~11v). Of course, now I run my fans at 5v and my system is dead silent with full load temp...
