i don't know much about these psu's, but as a fellow spcr'r i urge you to cool down a bit. you're not being rude, and your frustration isn't unjustified, but perhaps it'd be a good idea to think about how this could be just as good as the one you wanted. with the power connector, can you just connec...

i did a few mods to my mx700, so since ralf is so keen on pics i made a quick one of what i did. essentially my problems were: 1) main left button was too itchy, i.e. opposite of Easter's problem 2) battery cover was loose and rattled. 3) mouse makes a scratching noise when moved http://temp.jw.id.a...

hmmm the problem for me is that my coffee table will be drawing about 5A @240V at startup and about 2-3A constant thereafter. i think that might be beyond the capabilities of that foil strip idea? also my mum will kill me if i tear up the carpet in the lounge room so it has to be something above the...

Chyllid. I had also wondered about doing the coffee table. What put me off, was getting power to it without trailing cables. Any ideas on that one? that one has absolutely baffled me as well. i want to be able to move my coffee table from room to room (as well as make it for other people) and the v...

i think it's more of a case of "because we can". :) laptops these days aren't that much more expensive than pc's, are much more mobile and often just as quiet - but you can't tinker with them nearly as much. there's a lot of satisfaction and uniqueness you get from doing projects like these! btw i l...

sorry for being a late post, but i highly recommend arctic cooling's "arctic fan 3" fan. i have a zalman zm-f1, a china-made panaflo, a japan-made panaflo and 3 of the arctic units... that's actually in order of decreasing noise level. the arctic cooling fans also cost much less than the panaflos an...

Another forum member here has used soundguard material, but that again is quite thick, and may not be practical for your application. yep that'd be me, i use soundguard 's "soundsorber barrier" product which is 18mm thick. it's 3 layers (5+3+10mm) so it can be 'thinned' very easily if you run out o...

You'll need to replace the motherboard and the PSU. Once the ATX connector on the motherboard is scorched, it will quickly burn any new PSU's connector you plug into it. Often this is a result of inadequate connection - over time, especially if you do a lot of plugging/unplugging the wires will wor...

i'm a bit curious as to how a harddrive can damage something via a power cable? maybe i'm totally clueless, but i don't think a hard drive can send a surge of electricity to the fan controller, let alone one large enough to destroy it! to me it sounds much more like a power supply problem. when my s...

I have a philips 109P4 and it's a brilliant monitor colour-wise and everything-else-to-do-with-image-quality-wise - but it's the loudest part of my system by far. even in your average 'quiet' system, it'd still be prominent. the noise is a...

Welcome to SPCR, 2grVe! i think it really depends on the type of fans and the density of the radiator :) if you're using a below-average 120x1, 120x2 or 120x3 radiator like the black ice series or anything with large gaps between the fins, then high airflow i think is actually beneficial. (for cooling of course, not for no...
