With reference to which setup? (Or, please, give - at least - a link to the original thread that you're referring to.)

With reference to your current setup, have you ever tried to not to use the Enermax intake fan at all? If in case, has it had worthwhile for quietness, and which drawbacks may have you experienced as for cooling?

Proposed mod to SPCR Model 1: please advice

As any poster in this section, I'm looking for a new, quiet system, but it's still no time to show my components list. First of all, I'd like to report two old quotes (at least just to show I'm quite a bit hanging around what SPCR said in the past) from MikeC. [quote="MikeC posted on Wed Jan 07, 200...

The Reserator XT has a 140 mm fans so it's going to be more noisy than the 1 and 2 I mean it should be actually checked out: there's also the noise related to the coolant flow rate, which could be influenced by the active cooling. Moreover fan operation can be manually adjusted in order to optimize...

rig, computer jargon question

As a non english-spoken people, sometimes (very often) I'm not so confortable with some word (acronym or not) informally used among any IT enthusiast group. So I beg your pardon preventively for my silly question. I often see expression like "gaming rig", "quiet rig", "my own rig" or "my new rig". W...

Just as a first look, maybe you wanna try also this: eXtreme Power Supply Calculator Lite v2.5 .
As far as I know, there's even a pro version which is able to estimate how many amps you'd eventually need.

For 45nm Penryn TDP shoud effectively be unchanged, but I mean that actual power consumption should also be slashed down, just as we've already seen with C2D G0 and M0 steppings (Intel has reduced their power consumption at idle by an handful of watts).

I mean there should be at least another option: the Intel CPU along with an AMD IGP chipset, aka the "infamous" Abit Fatal1ty (somewhat equivalent to AMD 690G-based AM2 motherboards). Anyway, about power consumption of current IGP offerings, you could find some (according to me, interesting) thought...
