I noticed that when I used this software it disturbed the mp3 player, the sound disappeared for a fraction of a second. I think it happened sometimes (but not always) when it switched speed. If you're folding, you'll never enter CnQ and thus never miss a beat so to speak. One thing that I would lik...

Here is my NB47J installation with a 6800GT above it. I used needle-nosed pliers to bend and wire cutters to cut the fins. It isn't difficult. There are other similar postings. If you search for "NB47J" you should find them. You could put an unmodified NB47J on the chipset and put your VGA in the b...

You likely won't like the active HSF on the nF4 chip, but something like a Zalman NB47J is a possibility, either with some bending/trimming of fins for a VGA above it or putting your VGA in the other slot (moving SLI jumpers to SLI, even on Ultra board). An X800XL or 6800GT will likely be loud. If y...

I don't know where that HyperTransport came from, but nVidia's own graphic doesn't say HyperTransport between the CPU and the SPP.

The problem is that there is no objective measurement of temperatures by the chips or by the motherboards. So one cannot compare one motherboard to another in terms of reporting CPU temps, and to a lesser extent you cannot compare different chip models even from the same manufacturer. As noted, som...

Also, it has been said by many that the Thermalright units cool a little better and are a little quieter than the Zalmans. There are good discussions of this here , here , and here . The XP-90 is only $38 , which (according to Froogle) is about $6 more than the Zalman 7000. Well, that doesn't inclu...

I don't have any XP-64 experience, but I would recommend detaching all drives except for your primary SATA. With XP-32 I've had issues with it seeing an IDE drive with a primary partition, calling that C, and then installing on the SATA as drive D, etc. It wasn't at all clear inside the installer th...

Only thing I would not as a deal killer on the SLK 3000 is it puts the top of the motherboard very close to the power supply so you do have to be careful with mobos mounting the cpu up top and big heatsinks not fitting. I think there is at least 1.5 - 2in of clearance up there between the top of th...

I'm folding 24/7 with my overclocked Winchester 3500+ at 240x10 1.46V at 40-42C, about 9-11C above case temperature. BurnK7 runs about 5C higher. This is with a 7000B-Cu running at minimum Fanmate speed. I haven't completed calibrating my temperature, but initial indications are that I am within 2C ...

The DFI has a tighter approach and they allow a better overclock with 1T, but it's a nightmare when it comes to quieting the chipset cooler. Modding an NB47J to have a silent chipset cooler was far from a nightmare for me, even with a VGA above it. The fact that you can run your video card in the o...
