Well, it's certainly smaller than the Ninja (weighs less too), but it has more fins, so perhaps they have similar surface area? However those fins are closer together... I don't think it will perform as well as the Ninja under almost-passive conditions. Only a test will tell but I'm not overly optim...

Sounds like a disconnected temp sensor, as 127 is the maximum value a sensor can have.

In any case, most things burn out long before they reach 127°. Just untick it in the settings.

I would say it has the same effect as undervolting the CPU and would lower temps, however because it is difficult to do (a resistor somewhere, perhaps?) and most people wanting low power simply buy a basic card, there probably isn't much information on it. Just underclocking in 2D is good enough for...

I've never experienced SpeedStep firsthand, but by the sounds of it ffdshow will be a heavy load making SS useless while you watch movies. I am not particularly concerned about idle as heat production is far less, so fans can run slower and quieter. It's fortunate that fresh air is going directly to...

I hope your motherboard is undervoltable because a Prescott and Zalman 7000 won't be a quiet combination if you want to maintain clock speed. An XP-120 would really help you but isn't feasible for an HTPC. With those components the best advice I can give is make sure you can extract the processor he...

I meant those silent blocks, or antivibration screws... don't know how to call them :P (pic) so that the fan isn't in direct contact with the metalic screws and thus with the case. They reduce vibration, but if there isn't any vibration to begin with they have little benefit. Nexus fans are suppose...

However - and the most important difference - is that the higher wattage PSU HAS to cope with a much higher load and therefore more heat, so it will usually have a faster noisier fan (e.g. difference between S12 430W and 500W) and could have a different fan controller setting. Efficiency tends to be...

Won't there be a problem with the close proximity to the case walls and blowing into each other's path? It's a shame the ATX spec is less than 16cm. If nothing else this stuff looks easy to spread on (= fewer problems) and should keep for a long time. Fortunately most good heatsinks (XP-120 etc) have a copper base, and if you're using a cheap aluminium-based heatsink you probably wouldn't care about getting other paste.
