Re: I give up: no PSU is quiet enough until modded

These power supplies are, indeed, relatively quiet.. with trivial <100w loads . But once you put a measly 150w load* on them they all, without exception, ramp up to truly excessive 30db+ noise levels. Is it really the load that affects the fan speed? In my experience, it's more the temperature of t...

Depends on the leaf blower. With the right one, you could probably blow the SP97 to smithereens.

Not only will you be doing something for a good cause, but you'll also get a warm fuzzy feeling inside knowing that your computer isn't wasting cycles and that it's actually DOING something while it's on. My computers feel like they have a sense of purpose now that I've started folding. As far as si...

I don't think I'll try it, though. I have an old Celeron 300A @ 450MHz that my parents are using, but it's not worth it to spend all that money on that Zalman... the Celery is nearing the end of its useful lifecycle. I'd rather buy my folks an Athlon and underclock it.

I got my XP-M 2400+ a few days ago, and my new heatsink just arrived today. So far I've gotten it to run at 2.5 GHz @ 1.9V without any problems (really about 1.87V, as my Abit NF7-S undervolts as stated previously on this forum). 2.6 GHz at 2.03 seemed ok, but I was a little worried with that high ...

So I decided, even though my old chip passed Memtest at 2-2-2-5 200Mhz FSB, maybe this chip can't (you wouldn't think it would not be CPU dependent, only RAM and chipset). That's what I always thought, too. But then I recall seeing a post here about MemTest v3.0's test 5, which apparently tests the...

P.S. - the guys at OC Forums seem to disaprove of OC'ed processors going above 50C at full load. Are you guys sure you're not running them too hot? Overclocked processors are more sensitive to heat -- i.e. a CPU that runs stable at 65C at stock settings might not be stable at that temp if overclock...

Because you have good airflow in your system... give yourself a pat on the back. :) Good airflow is tough to achieve... few people have cooler case temps with the case closed than with it open.

IQZFA, 0349. And sorry, that 2.2GHz I posted earlier should read 2.4GHz. It might go a bit higher, but I haven't tested... I just jumped up to 2.5GHz, but it wasn't stable even at 1.93v (BIOS setting). Maybe it'll play nice at 2.5GHz now that it's had some time to burn in.... Of course, I probably w...
