Re: looking for guide/how to/or general advice on dampening

1.Depends on your case. I would say Acoustipac is great. But not cheap.
1a. I don’t know what that is, I normally get Styrofoam nuts or paper… they are all bad.
1b. Carpet pad foam.
2 over every surface that is not needed for ventilation.

The A8N-E does not have a heat pipe chip set cooler. The Sytrin KuFormula VF1 might benefit from being upside down.

Weight? The P150 is about 25 lbs. With PSU a small aluminum case is about 22 lbs. What makes my case heavy is the 6 lbs of foam.

CPU: AMD 64 X2 3800+ or 4200+ (Socket 939)

You need a back up fan on the heat sink. Or maybe just a duct.
I do not know the AM2 products are ready for intelligent critique at this point

ATX cable detachable

One question is why make the ATX cable detachable? There's no situation where this cable isn't needed. If you have a set up that you might want to remove the PSU and not disconnect the MB cable from the board. Perhaps: The MB cable is tucked away /bundled with the other cables. Customizing the cabl...

If you are going from aluminum to acrylic I don’t think your going to find a negative impact. Typically acrylic cases are thick. But you lose the benefit of using a rubber or foam dampener. Be aware most inverters for cold cathodes make a humming noise. You might have a difficult time finding a ca...

what case do you have?
If you have an AT PSU the power switch might be live.
If you have a front fan, the bezel acts as a sound / dust baffle.

You are better off with cooler master or yate loons. maybe the new stealth fans are better. the ones I bought a year ago were not loud, but not silent. but they did not adjust at all with a PWM controller.

What case do you even have with 11 hard drives in? How are you cooling all your drives? Two obvious solutions. If your drives are not in some array, have the ones you don’t use often power down very quickly after use. Second, get a new case. You should really consider why 11 drives on all the time...
