I would suggest the long sides since that usually is the hottest place on the HD, except for the PCB that barely is touchable on my drive, but I suppose the PCB can be disregarded when it comes to measuring drive temperature. Is there anybody that knows of a quiet mini-keyboard? That is, a keyboard without a numpad and with a length of about 30cm/12" or 35cm/14".
