I disagree it cannot all be converted into heat otherwise electric fires would not be required or made, I agree quite a lot is turned into heat but a computer is a very inefficient heater. What other types of energy will it be converted into then? Since it isn't accelerating, moving towards gravity...

It is true that some energy is converted into kinetic energy when the HDD and fans are accelerated to their set speed. But when the computer is shut off, this energy is converted into heat, which maked the fans/HDDs grind to a halt. Everything IS converted into heat (except for light perhaps). Even ...

I'd have to say that it roughly overestimates my system draw about 100%. Yes that is true, 100%. There is no way in h*** my system will draw 310+W no matter how hard I push it. I'd say my system is roughly around 150W based on earlier SPCR tests. I also had to set my CPU to Opteron 144 instead of A6...

If SLI/Crossfire is a must, i would recomend a pair of 7900GT since they are really cool-running and easy to cool silently. They use about as much power as the 6600GT.

That's not the best review I've seed.

Using a hair dryer to heat up the PSU to check the noise when "loaded"?

Also, they are confusing power factor with efficiency. Also no note about which load was used when "power factor" (efficiency) was measured.

I would say that dust buildup is impossible to avoid, even if you have air filters, unfiltered air can enter through small holes and cracks. I usually "dust" my computer every other month or so by using compressed air on a can together with a vaccum cleaner. I hold the vac a few inches from where I ...

P180 + Phantom 350W fit together like hand and glove. Cooling is provided by a 120mm nexus fan, which besides being quieter than a Seasonic S12 (yep, I've tried 'em both) also cools hard drives much better. The only downsides is that it is a PITA to fit everything, and hiding cables is a bit harder ...

Of course you will be able to use it.

What they probably mean by not being PCI-E compliant is that it lacks the 6-pin connector that some PCI-E cards (higher-end) require.

You can buy an adapter from molex -> 6-pin PCI-E and use.

If you use the P180 with both fans running in the upper back, it would be no problem at all. In the P180 review, the SPCR team managed to cool the hottest Intel processor passively, a processor which is way hotter than any X2 today.

The difference is the color, and an occasional small SPCR badge on the front.
That's it. The difference in price is due to the smaller volume of cases made for the SPCR edition.

It is not the thermal paste.

I installed my Scythe Ninja once in a real hurry, with the AS5 being everywhere except where it should. The result? About one centigrade higher temps.

Either the base of the cooler is very concave, or the motherboard is simply measuring wrong.

My 6600GT, which I bought thinking it was a low-power card, actually draws almost double the amount of power in comparision to my undervolted Venice 3000+ The power from the 12V2 should be directed to the GPU instead of the CPU in todays systems!

According to one of the reviews I read (don't know exactly which is was but I think it was linked to in the VF900-thread), the noise was about the same as the VF700. Since all reviewers measure differently, no conclusion about the absolute noise signature can be drawn.
