I disagree it cannot all be converted into heat otherwise electric fires would not be required or made, I agree quite a lot is turned into heat but a computer is a very inefficient heater. What other types of energy will it be converted into then? Since it isn't accelerating, moving towards gravity...

It is true that some energy is converted into kinetic energy when the HDD and fans are accelerated to their set speed. But when the computer is shut off, this energy is converted into heat, which maked the fans/HDDs grind to a halt. Everything IS converted into heat (except for light perhaps). Even ...

I'd have to say that it roughly overestimates my system draw about 100%. Yes that is true, 100%. There is no way in h*** my system will draw 310+W no matter how hard I push it. I'd say my system is roughly around 150W based on earlier SPCR tests. I also had to set my CPU to Opteron 144 instead of A6...

Re: Infrant!
The best NAS box in this price range is the Infrant ReadyNAS . It's the one to get. Robert That one looked nice in theory.. but when I noticed the retail price it gave me hiccups. Let's just say that I could build myself a fully functioning and almost high performing computer for the price. That pr...

I would say that dust buildup is impossible to avoid, even if you have air filters, unfiltered air can enter through small holes and cracks. I usually "dust" my computer every other month or so by using compressed air on a can together with a vaccum cleaner. I hold the vac a few inches from where I ...

P180 + Phantom 350W fit together like hand and glove. Cooling is provided by a 120mm nexus fan, which besides being quieter than a Seasonic S12 (yep, I've tried 'em both) also cools hard drives much better. The only downsides is that it is a PITA to fit everything, and hiding cables is a bit harder ...

What is the point of having dust filters in the front vents when air is being let in almost everywhere? My P180, the old version without the perforated rear slots, is letting in dust almost everywhere. The side vents on the front actually bypasses the dust filters. The side vents (along with the bo...

Four 12V rails with a minimum load of 0.8A for two of them and 0.5A for two of them, how would that work? From what I understand, this must mean that you have to load something off each individual rail, which means you would have to have a quite damanding system and lots of peripherials lik HDDs, 2 ...

In the PSU review: "This review assumes, naturally, that the SH380 PSU will be used in the NSK2400 case." Is it not supposed to be SU380, or did i miss something out? Also, i noticed on the "Fusion" product sheet that it had a 430W PSU. Is the PSU different from the one in the NSK2400, except for th...

A mention of the Hiper on SPCR lead me to this thread , which lead me to this review . From the review: "The efficiency could have been better and the PFC noise was quite loud at high loads." Exactly how does PFC make noise? It is not good to see that reviewing sites seem to have absolutely no clue...

Nice work guys! One thing makes me a little concerned. My 6600GT, which I bought thinking it was a low-power card, actually draws almost double the amount of power in comparision to my undervolted Venice 3000+ The power from the 12V2 should be directed to the GPU instead of the CPU in todays systems!

Did enabling AAM have any effect on drive speed for those who have tried? I have AAM enabled and I've noticed that my drives (200 & 250GB P120 SATA) are extremely slow when doing multiple tasks.
