I use the same Ninja mini fan on my NSK3480 Earthwatts power supply but I didn't use an adapter.

http://www.silentpcreview.com/article83-page1.html

...also, I was too cheap to get an adapter.

Very nice. I have the 690G Gigabyte board. Your cabling is much nicer than mine. It got to be too much of a hassle to put the cables in the back so I moved my hard drive to the lower chamber and it is sitting on foam while the cables are sitting in the 5.25 bay. I swapped the side panels so the CPU ...

At 55 MPH, the best I've ever gotten is 39.2 MPG. Although, I'd say my average is around 36. It's a big improvement over the 28-ish I've been usually getting prior to hypermiling. I drive an automatic Toyota Camry rated for 24/33 or 21/30 depending on whichever EPA year rating you'd want to look at....

My Earthwatts has a 2 pin connector but I still used the fan from my Mini Ninja which is 3 pin. The details on how I did it are found here: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article83-page1.html I think you just have to worry about the voltage for the fan and what starting voltage your fan can run at. I...

If you live near a Fry's, they might have these silicon fan mounts.

http://www.antec.com/Detail.bok?no=328

Last time I checked, they were 4.99 for eight. I managed to snag a few when they were sold for 2.99. I didn't feel buying similar products online even though it might be cheaper.

I find that the San Jose Mercury ads are almost exactly the same ones as the ones in Sacramento/Roseville.

The Sacramento Bee doesn't update fast enough and the website doesn't play nice with AdBlock.

With gas prices on the rise, I find I can't go to Fry's for fun anymore.

Why is that? I assume the air coming from the front bezel would be enough. I don't have an optical drive but I do have a suspended hard drive so I want as much air coming from the front and not the top.

For those numbers posted on the Antec fans...something doesn't seem right. On the back of the retail one I bought, it's:

Low = 1200
Medium = 1600
High = 2000

...and plugging them into the motherboard yields similar numbers.

Or are the stock Tricools that much different than the retail?

I decided to do a fan swap despite my fears. I used the fan from the Ninja Mini that someone else suggested. It is much quieter now.

Sadly, when trying to remove the white plastic holder-thingie, it launched into the air and is now lost; not a big deal but I hate loose ends like that...

Keep us posted.

After swapping my old Seagate for a notebook hard drive, the power supply has become the main source of noise. I also have the Corsair that I got on sale and it also makes a lot of fan noise; that and it's bigger than I'd like.

If I recall correctly, the Corsair HX520 doesn't have any vents except the fan grill and the exhaust, so you can't block the top vent.

I bought a Tricool LED since it was on sale locally; can't remember if it was sleeve or ball bearing and I have it on my CPU fan header on low. If the temperature was low enough it wouldn't start but when it did start up, it would spin at ~300 RPM and increase to...I think 900.
