Where did those benchmarks come from? Also when is the i3 coming out? Also I am still hoping someone can answer my first question. So that chart basically says that for games a 9400 with a lower end cpu is twice as fast as a intel 4500 igp. If they can cut off maybe 10W with the i3 it might be somet...

I have been thiking about that but so far it seams that the new parts will be to pricy. Also I dont really want an intel igp. I have had problems with them before and I have been unimpressed by the 4500 in my laptop. I dont want to wait to long as my desktop is currently being held captive by my hom...

intel E3300 vs AMD Athlon 64 x2 240 power conumption

I am building a low power HTPC. I am targeting an idle power of less the 35W. I don't really care as much about non idle power consumption. The competition for CPU seems to be between the intel E3300 or AMD 240. Both are about the same price, both are 45nm, and both have about the same performance. ...

Well my hunt at Fry's was not fruitfull. They had the 120 and 150 picoPSUs but they were packaged by another company and they put a bunch of blatant lies on the boxes. The worst was they claimed they could handle 120W and 150W respectively but packaged them with 60W and 80W AC-DC adapters. That sort...

Does anyone know if either the ASUS or Zotac 9300 boards can drive the HDMI and DVI at the same time? Currently my projector is HDCP compliant but my LCD is not so I can't use the switch box I bought until I work that out. Running VGA through my walls would be to much work so that is not an option. ...

While the Celeron 430 will use less power it does not support speed stepping and will not throttle down under load. With that in mind, I think the e5x00 would be a better choice. Much better performance and bang for your buck. This is also an option and just showed up this AM http://www.newegg.com/...

I came up with two other configuration that seemed practical though it is hard to know how power efficient. PSU ??? New Egg has a broad range of cheap sub 200W PSUs but they all have fans and are of dubious quality. AMD CPU: Sempron 140 based system $37 MB: 785G chipset with 4200 HD graphics $80 Int...

Zotac ION 330 or CORE2 low power and cheap HTPC

Hi all, I am looking at building a low power HTPC. I would like the whole system to use less then 50W when not using the optical drive. Preferably less then that and Less then 30W when idle. I don't want to spend more then $300 and preferably less. I am going to make a case from whatever I can find ...

Passive HS and CPU combo for HTPC

I am wondering if there is a good modern heatsink and cpu combo that has proven to work well. As the title suggests this is for a home theater PC. I am planning on making the whole PC fanless or perhaps a single case fan.

Athlon 64 cg-stepping vs 90nm

in the post "athalon 63 power reduction: C'n'Q, Vcore, mobile, tools" they suggest getting a 90nm or "If you can't get a 90nm core, get a least a core with the CG-stepping." Then the article refers to the post "New Athlon 64 core revision -> even better Cool'n'Quiet" which talks about cg-stepping. T...

cool 'n' quiet for micro atx htpc

I am building a htpc using the silverstone LC-11 case (micro atx) and I want to use an athalon64 2800 (socket 754) with cool 'n' quiet. I have been looking around a fair bit and I think I want to get a MSI K8MM-ILSR. This board was picked for its low price and it was one of the few micro atx boards ...
