Well this sucks badly. That is excessive! Ninja, Ultra 120, these other mentioned... all of these high end coolers are the top of the top, the cream of the crop. They are in fact borderline overkill even on 3ghz Q6600s. And from those frostytech numbers, the variation between the top products is in...

The reason I'm considering positive pressure is dust control. Positive pressure doesn't imply only one fan at the front though. That one fan at the front thing is the part that doesn't make good sense. So put one fan at the front, one at the back, and tweak the speeds so that the pressure is neutra...

It's always the same story : when a new product comes up with disruptive technology, there's always a lot of activity in the forums, and there's always people ranting. Some of them are even hired by the competition to spread rumors. No joking here, it's a very serious business. I'm not talking abou...

Come on. You're posting on the forum of a website that tells you how much hard drives vibrate when they review them. Check the front page. The WD GP drives don't vibrate as much as other 3.5" drives.

your point was erroneous; the difference between the Acoustifan and the Noctua is probably only 7 or 8dB, not the 17dB which the "official" figures suggest. I'm going to go out on a limb and say nothing with moving parts can produce only 8dB. It's funny, you remind me of my sister before she grew u...

Re: Best case ever Gigabyte 3D Aurora? Not many agree!

I just discovered the Gigabyte 3D Aurora case on the net. You might be taking some of the antec amenities for granted. Without dampened side panels, they are more likely to rattle. Without less obstructed air flow (like by the hdd cage), stuff gets noisy or hot. Without easy to clean air filters, s...

Burn the image of the Samsung HUtil to a cd and boot from it to test the F1 when you get it. Hopefully your drive won't have the errors that many people are experiencing.

Just to be clear here, are you measuring performance with RPM fixed or with the noise level fixed? Because different fans produce different noise levels at the same RPM, and nobody cares about RPM, they care about the noise. So for instance, with the RPM of the Slipstream and the P12 both tweaked to...

I taped shut as much as I could and have all air input flowing through the two dust filters, yes. I did not tape up anything on the front of the case. I did snip the metal grill and toss the mini plastic doors. I have to clean the filters once a week because there is significant visible dust build up.

Why would I want to go for a 2.5" though? 2.5" drives are silent, 3.5" drives are not so silent :) If you just want a quiet drive, not a silent drive, then the WD GP, Samsung F1, and older Samsung T166 all perform well and are quiet to some degrees. The F1 is the obvious choice if you don't specifi...

That is easy then, just get the fastest 2.5" laptop drive. That would be a new single platter 160gb Hitachi or Samsung. Both would work.
