700 W Toughpower is not at all the same as the 550W

Thermaltake has made an effort to improve the noise generated by its power supplies in the 600W plus Toughpower series. In the 600W plus Toughpower series vibration noise and fan noise have both been decreased, so don't let the 550 results scare you away. Considering your options up in Canada, you d...

I am really looking forward to the review. 620W unit?

From all I have heard, it is going to come accross as a nice power supply, but if the fans sucks.. I would like to enlarge the opening and drop in a 140 mm fan.. I have a spare Aerocool Streamliner I could undervolt...

Would this mod be hard to do?

Take 90% of the calculator, so 350W would be your max use

Now would you want to buy a 350W cpu knowing you would max it? NO Since Power supplies are most efficient between 30 and 70% use.. I would suggest going with a power supply where your current max use would be at the 70% mark or therabouts, especially if you are considering adding another video card ...

I will take any control I can get over automatic

Just liked having some control, but.. it still was over ridden by program, so that is kind of pointless, imo.. I want total control of all my stuff as an owner.

I would like to see the Nesteq 620 reviewed and more!!

Thanks for sharing on the Nesteq.. thought I saw a review recently on it.. overseas.. hmmm. cannot remember where.. What I like best is the control you have over it.. it seems to operate with a temp sensor/combined with your settings.. However, I would like to know what those temp settings are for i...

My advice.. if I had X2 3800's would be to stick with it!

no need to change platforms just yet. But, if and when you do for conroe.. I really like the new Ati chipset that will be out and the next generation ati cards.. If you were to update to am2... the new nVidia chipset is better and surprisingly.. to me anyway.. Gigabyte might have a better high end b...

You are right, it is a tough call.

Intel revealed a superior processor back in March and now today AMD has revealed a vastly superior processing platform. I have been torn between the two.. I just posted what sounds dumb until you think about it that AMD's news today is more significant than Intels of a few months ago. but.. still a ...

Could AMD's new Torrenza technology be as good as it gets?

http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=2642 AMD did not answer intel with a bs, short term fix, but answered Intel's processor, not with a superior processor, but with a superior Procesor platform solution. When you combine this tech news with the AM2 platform and double sockets, what AMD is d...

Are there No over 600W power supplies anyone can reccommend?

I have read a ton of reviews.. but few of note on some of the new or soon to be released Power Supplies. Most reviews really don't give enough info..the review of the 550 Toughpower from Thermaltake, using a 120 mm fan that topped out at 2100 or so rpms, was about 33% higher in dba than what Thermal...

Some great info there Howard!

I was wondering who put that info together. I have read through it on several occassions now. Thanks! I am interested in some of the new psus coming out or that just came out. The new 14 cm fans appear to me to be a good idea to reduce noise and I was curious on how in a small power supply unit a 14...

I would like to know more about this too!!

Is there anyway to tweak the temp settings? I would like to have larger fan running slower.. I am looking at the toughpower from Thermaltake because it has that 14 cm fan.. it is expected to rev up to 1900 rpm at load.. I would much rather have it slowed down slightly..

I have already rejected the Seasonic 600W power supply..

Per the various power calculator sites, my planned build will use between 800 and 1100W if everything is being used at peak. Summary of what I have. A couple raptors, some big drives, a plextor dvd optical drive.. a couple video cards.. with Zalman 900 coolers... and plans to upgrade to the Greyhoun...

What is the quietest new, over 600W, highly efficient PSU?

Looking for a Power supply that rates over 600W at 40C and would qualify for membership in the 80 plus club. I am leaning toward the yet to be released Seasonic S-12 650, but am a little concerned about Seasonics problem of recirculating the hot air back into the case, this appears to have been a co...
