OK, I based my comment on the Enermax PSU in your sig, but it will work even better with that Seasonic PSU. What I would do: leave both fan directions as they were (i.e., blowing out). Then I would apply a duct like this: +-------------------+------- . | < . (PSU) | . | LEGEND: < . ############## |@...

IMHO, AcoustiPack is highly overpriced and can easily be replaced by a combination of a mass barrier like self-adhesive vinyl tiles and some open cell foam. Shouldn't cost you more than ~$10. Pay good attention to the plastic bezel, since it has a tendency to amplify low frequency resonances (well, ...

DiamondMax 9s run pretty hot: the 3 disks in my server run at 38-40C with constant airflow from a front-mounted fan over them... and this is with minimal load (streaming a few audio files and the like). As a contrast, the Raptors in my work rig gets cooled by indirect airflow from a single 600rpm ex...

Yes, the disc snaps onto the center spindle, so it will play discs on its side or even upside down. :) Also, the Pundit will NOT work properly horizontally under a normal CRT monitor. I only used it standing on its side. :( Thanks! I intend to bolt one to the side of a desk, so this is good info. A...

Short answer: Yes. It sucked. :) Longer answer: this heatsink setup simply cannot cope with high heat levels, unless maybe when you point a really high airflow fan at it. Also, since the fan will usually be more or less parallel to the motherboard it is automatically very close to the case edge, whi...

Looks nice, especially for a mATX setup. I wouldn't have guessed that a 120mm fan could fit back there 8) Have you tried running without the front fan altogether? If all intake air comes through the front of the case, the negative pressure caused by the two other fans might create enough airflow ove...

Looks nice. Couple of questions: where is the duct attached to the front of the PSU leading to? It appears to stop at the 5.25" bay cover... or am I missing something? do you have a D12SL-12 fan to compare the 14cm one with? I was wondering how they compare. If you duct the Ninja to the back fan, ch...

The second store you linked also sells a Seasonic S12 380 for about the same price... I know what I'd get! My German is a little rusty as well, but it appears that they are not too happy about the noise "your" PSU makes.

Well, I never had a use for it with both analog and digital sensors, but I just tried it and it seems to work. What you need to do is enable logging in Speedfan (button "configure" > tab "log" > checkbox "enabled") and then enable logging for the right temp sensors (tab "temperatures" > select appro...

Well, got RivaTuner up and running. Lowering the fan speed has made quite a difference: going down from 50% to 40% takes a lot of the "whoosh" out of the noise, so that is definately an improvement. My temps were already a bit higher than the values Ultraboy reported though and I do see the GPU temp...

teejay, Have you tried using ATI tool to lower the fan speed and/or undervolting the card in the bios? Well, ATi-tool doesn't show fan speed control for this card (yet)... at least on my card. I'm using the latest beta (0.25 beta 14). I have not added the RivaTuner.cfg line ultraboy suggested in th...

See this thread for some discussion on this card. There are a few problems with cooling this card with an after-market cooler: since the GPU core is native PCI-E, the card employs a HIS chip to bridge between the core and the AGP slot. This chip needs cooling just like the GPU. This requirement alon...

My theoretical 2 cents: foam has more friction at its surface than smooth cardboard, plastic etc. For low-airflow situations and/or narrow ducts this might become an issue, where the foam restricts air flowing through more than a smooth surface would. Therefore I tend to use a combination: a smooth ...

Any particular reason why you're getting an AGP system? Even though you have no intention of gaming, PCI-Express is still the new standard for expansion cards (not just video cards) and a budget AGP card will cost about the same or even a bit more than an PCI-e these days. Is that Airnet thingy a fi...
