I thing even to wait for haswell, but case is something that can be bought before. Haswell is gonna be out between March and June 2013, I'd calculate with June to be sure. That's a looong time. Even if cases don't go bad, there's a good chance that by that time a few new spiffy ones will be around....

Re: Your opinion on US gun laws under Obama.

Andrew Jackson's forced migration of the Indians to Oklahoma was a direct contradiction to a US Supreme Court ruling on the matter, and Congress had nothing to do with it. It was a flagrant disregard for the rule of law This is just embarassing. For many posts you insisted that something like Hitle...

Where does it say that the rule of law, the government of laws not men, is only achieved by the US system? How is a parliamentary democracy not the rule of law? It is amazing that a German (from West or East) would speak about human rights and criticize the US. Although it is sometimes quite hot in Gitmo, and prisoners probably don’t have air conditioning, they don’t have gas chambers or gulags either. Germany doesn't have gas chambers anymore. The United ...

No regular PC will draw 300w of power all the time. Even multi-GPU overclocked abominations will struggle to hit 200w when not stressed (called idle). Depending on the CPU you use, your PC (with integrated graphics) should idle between 50-100 watts and between 75-150 watts on load. How much time it ...

Yeah, you're right ces, the group of people who are considering to buy a dual-core SB i3 right now instead of waiting for IB is large enough to warrant totally mislabeling this topic.

Calling this topic "Win8 2D performance better with Ivy Bridge" would just not cut it. Too specific and all.

Re: Why you should delay buying a Dual Core CPU

The title of this tread is seriously misleading. I'm pretty sure most everybody expects something about CPU-core-scaling and not about Intel's HD2000/HD3000 IGPs and it's speculative lack of acceleration in Windows 8, which doesn't concern people: - who'll stick with Windows 7 - who'll stick with Li...

To be honest, you should not have a passive video card in a Shuttle cube. Sandwhiched against the side panel, there is nowhere for the heat to go and in those cubes, it receives almost no airflow, esp. if the CPU fan spins slowly. Sell that replacement GT 430 on ebay and buy a card with a fan. It wo...

The games you listed are so old, that the IGP (integrated Graphics) of a Sandy Bridge CPU will have no problems with it. And just about every mainboard (be it mITX, mATX or full ATX) has a 16x PCI-E slot, so you can add a graphics card when you need it. Because that is when you want to buy a new gra...

The CPU difference can easily be drastically reduced my making the G620 as slow as the G620T. The G620 mostly consumes more because of the higher clock. In many cases, it's probably possible to reduce the GPU difference as well (see above). Yeah. With the T and S series, Intel marketing is successf...

Hm, I don't know. The scenario you described with just a few background processes should not bog down a modern dual-core CPU (and your T6500 is one). The next time your system appears sluggish, open the task manager, sort the list of open applications in descending order by the CPU load and find out...

You still weren't entirely specific what you want. Office/Latex needs next to no CPU power, are you unhappy with the T6500's performance in those kinds of applications? What do you mean with games like COD4? As old as CoD4 or the same genre - which could include Battlefield 3. Also, how much image q...

My GT doesn't have this problem.

What my "research" (i.e. anecdotal evidence) shows is that fans seem to be the most heterogenous parts in the IT industry. Even with the best fans out there, you have (fantasy stat) 1 in 3 chance that you get one that hums, buzzes, whines, ticks or something else.
