I bought them from a norwegian web shop (www.komplett.no) and the Terratec cost $117 and the Xcard was $130. I compared the price of the Xcard with www.mini-itx.com and found out that it was cheaper to use komplett.no and there is allways a little extra hassle with the tax when ordering from outside...

I have bought the Sigma XCard for DVD and DivX playback. I tried it in my PII 300MHz, and the picture was as good or better than my old cheap DVD-player (Afreey or something like that), and much better than any VHS-player I've seen. I've also bought the Terratec Cinergy 600, and it can record withou...

Moving or processing bytes?

Hi! I use a PII 300MHz PC with 320 MB RAM for video editing, and it works nice. According to NateR, that would be something like a C3 600MHz. I have a firewire card to transfer the video from my miniDV-camera at 720*576 pixels to my 5400 RPM harddrive. I don't loose a frame. Cutting the video clips ...

It looks like you are correct, but I don't understand why they make such fuzzy marketing. Instead of marketing the Eden as an inferior processor to the C3, they should focus on the extra testing. Something like: The Via C3 Eden has passed extra tests to ensure it will work flawless without a fan. We...

I don't think the desktop cases have anything to do with the design of the PCI cards. I had a 486 in a tower case, and both the ISA and the EISA cards had the components at the upper side. Not sure about the VESA card, but I think it was like that as well. So why did they change it for the PCI? Mayb...

I use a PII 300 MHz (I got a Compaq 5030 for free, so I made it almost silent and use it until I can afford something better). The PSU is positioned directly over the huge CPU heatsink, so I made the hole there bigger and closed the other holes in the PSU (except the exhaust of course :D) I then put...

I don't know what difference you can expect, but AFAIK the ME6000 use a Via Eden processor while the M9000 use a Via C3 processor. According to Via, the C3 and Eden processors are very different, and the C3 is targeted at PC-market while the Eden is targeted at the IA / embedded market. From the min...

Just a fun idea: Combining a powerfull HTPC with a large aquarium. The large amount of water would reduce the need of air cooling to a level where passive cooling probably would be ok. Then make a feeding machine for the fishes which is controlled by the computer... A cute symbiotic relasionship :D ...

My experience is that most of the noise from the keyboard is not from the switch, but when the finger hit the key. If you push the key down very carefully it doesn't make much sound. If you tap your finger on the key without pushing it down, there are a lot of noise. Probably a different surface on ...
