hmmmm okay 1stly I'd cut mod the PSU so that I'd get rid of the punch out grill, can u mount that fan on the bottom of the PSU? I don't know what the shuttle setup looks like but u might be able to duct that 80MM fan onto the CPU HSF and put it into the PSU so u could get away with one fan into the ...

with the Zalman I think the grease they give u is a silicion grease, with the Artic Silver 3 or any paste for that matter it's more important in the way that u apply it more than anythng, u need a paper thin layer for all greases to work well and to apply it well.... but your logic is right more of ...

so u're looking to control the fan from say your windows desktop? u probably could use Speedfan (don't know the link) or u'd need to build a Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) setup with a uProcessor and u'd need to hook it up to the serial port and write some I/O software or find some for yourself, (soun...

You'd be surprised what it takes to block out noise! the only place where I think u'd get low noise attentuation either the best out at sea in the middle of nowhere or maybe REALLY late at night so all u'd have is maybe 50Hz noise (not even), Or maybe one of my Uni lectures as well cause all the no...

I'd personally get something like a Antec Tru Power for a nice balance or if we're going for silence one of the Zalman PSUs, with the Just Cooler PSU I think dan says it the best It's not for everybody, though. And there's really not a lot of point bothering with an SP- 300 if your computer's going ...

Just a thought: how efficient is that small fan (probably 25mm I'd guess) at cooling the ATI heatsink? I mean, what if I took it off the heatsink and used say a 80mm Papst instead from short distance (I have one spare :D ) blowing straight onto it? Also is it possible to get a Gfx card temp reading...

so u'll have a closed loop in it, just duct either the intake or the exhaust (I'd personally do the exhaust upwards away from the closed loop intake far enuff away so u can be sure that the intake won't suck in any preheated air from the exhaust.... :)

Colour the plain looking duct with like a UV glow pen or u could run something like EL wire along the length of it to provide a effect, the easiest way I think would be to cover the duct with something like contact or cellopane paper :)

With the mosfet that they're using there u should be able to get a resistor to controll the temp speeds directly, after all the themistor is just acting like a varible resistor.
