Well. If anyone's interested, Duayn at Motor City Technologies, motorcitytech@yahoo.com, will make custom LVDS cables for $65 + shipping. I'm looking forward to getting this system up and running when I get back from vacation. A quick test with a less than efficient PSU, running a 1.6Ghz Pentium M i...

Custom LVDS cables
Hey, does anyone have a contact for someone who'll construct a custom LVDS cable? I just came across an ITX system with a 15" LCD and it's current LVDS cable isn't in the best shape and is much too short. I'd give it a shot myself, but can't see investing in a $200ish crimper. I've already emailed a...

You also need to be aware that most laptop optical drives are set to either master or slave at the factory and it's not something you can change. I had an issue with one ITX system, both the optical drive and 1.8 HD were set to master only, and I ended up getting a USB adapter from Addonics for the ...

FS: Antec 380W PSU & VL Systems M-Play Blast VFD
Two eBay auctions. Antec 380W PSU I took it out of a NSK2400 and replaced with a Seasonic. Bidding starts at $5. I also have the two Antec Tri-cool fans fro the case lying around somewhere if anyone's interested. VL Systems M-Play Blast VFD I ended up throwing in another HD in the 5.25" drive and go...

I just emailed Sparkle if the SPI270LE2 is available anywhere; I can't find it. It seems to have similar specs as the SPI220LE, but with an 80mm fan and 270W.

You can modify a standard XP install to use some of the attributes of XP Embedded, which was designed for use on CF; especially EWF. I played around with it a while ago and it does the trick, although I haven't played around with it much since I stared using Linux. EWF(Enhanced Write Filter) is anot...

I was thinking about tossing one of these in with my Intel D201GLY. I'm currently using a picoPSU-120 to power the system. My main concern is that the picoPSU has a max load at +12V of 7A (10A for no longer than 60 seconds) while the video card specs, at minimum a 250W PSU with a +12V current rating...

I just came across a few things that piqued my interest: ULV Dothan vs Silverthorne TG Daily "The 45 nm Silverthorne chip is expected to be as fast as the second-generation of Pentium M processors, while running in a power envelope between 0.6 and 2.0 watts." "At IDF, Intel said that the CPU will be...

I currently have a D201GLY and it's a great little board, but it and it's successor are lacking in their usefulness as a full Linux system. For me to get 3D/3D graphics to work properly, Gbit, etc on the D201GLY it'll end up costing me as much as a more expensive board. The Intel 82855GME GMCH chips...

BCM MX855 Pentium M Mini ITX
BCM MX855 Hrm.. What are peoples impressions of this board? How about as a Linux system? I could care less about SATA and it looks like I wouldn't have any problems using a Pico PSU with it. My only gripe would have to be using a fan on the CPU heatsink. Anyone have a clue how much juice this thing...

An unfair jab at Walmart patrons: "... Even at the low end, however, image is everything. The gPC is built using tiny components, but put inside a full-size case because research indicates that Wal-Mart shoppers are so unsophisticated they equate physical size with capability." It's probably the VIA...

Hey Zig, if you'd like to get rid of that IDE cable once and for all, I can highly recommend either one of these.

I can only hope that Intel continues with their ITX offerings; more options, more slots. I realize that these systems are for an alternate market, but they also make sense here. Plus... They're fun to play with and give me an excuse to try out new system variants; PicoPSU, miniPCI, PC/104, CF, 1.8" ...

derekva- Hrmm... I can think of three possible opitions. 1- Price and Image Toss in whatever miniPCI NIC card you like. I'm not sure if there's an active PCI bridge on the board. But for $28.60 it might be worth playing around with; though I wish I could find more info on it. I've been looking for a...

Or you can use something like this and there are others that rely on a USB port to turn off peripherals.
