I've had my Seagates running in the high 40's and low 50's for years. And they all still work.

High 30's is perfect. I wouldn't worry about it.

How are the temps with some airflow?

Edi: I guess I'll find out for myself. Just placed an order for a Velociraptor and Scythe 2.5" enclosure.

Putting the who thing into a novibes barely did anything. It needs to be inside one of Scythe's rubber boxes, methinks. But take it off the frame and it's as smooth and sweet as a baby's cheek. That is good news for me since the 2.5" NoVibes is nearly impossible to find for sale in the USA. Hoping ...

I hope the Bare Velociraptor fits the 2.5" Scythe enclosure with minimal modding. I'd then put the 2.5" Scythe into a 3.5" NoVibes. Heheh. Overkill, but why not? I would like to know if the production Velociraptor will have some kind of "Void Warranty" sticker or something that would prevent one fro...

Hmm. Now that I've been using it for a bit, The fan is not nearly as noticeable when a meter away, and with it installed in place. I do like how well it dampens HDD noise and vibrations. I have a 7200.11 1TB SATA drive in it, and it's pretty quiet (not silent, but it's pretty good). If the room is t...

Basically a fancy overpriced non-case.

DIY version = box fan, dowel rod cut into four pieces, and a sheet of cardboard.

Antec hasn't fixed a thing.

Just bought a new one from Fry's today. The fan is pretty noisy, it has a low constanting buzzing noise. Back it goes to Fry's. Their lenient return policy is why I bought it from Fry's.

Is there a sticker or something that would indicate the 2.5" drive being removed from the 3.5" sled?

So the Velociraptor is quieter than the WD6400AAKS? Even seek noises?

If so, the Velociraptor will be on my short list for a must buy.

Re: WD6400AAKS released

I read in the reviews on newegg about for Western Digital Caviar GP WD5000AACS 500GB that: "Do NOT attempt to use this drive for your OS, gaming, or real-time applications that may need to access the drive periodically. I was having an issue with 1-2 second freezes every few minutes while web brows...

Yeah, I was thinking of doing a more gradual bend overall, so that it would be more a wave / J curve, so that that there is no need to remove any fins.

I have the "Minja" installed on my E8400 and Abit IP35 Pro. Prefect fit. I have plenty of height clearance in my D.Vine HTPC case as well. I've ordered the TR Bolt Thru kit, as I would like the improved performance from better clamping pressure, and the peace of mind as well. I dislike those new pus...

I haven't used Western Digital drives in some time. Sad to see that the legacy four pin molex power connector is no longer there, so the WDSC50RCW SecureConnect SATA connector won't work with it. I just powered up one of the drives. WOW. Absolutely the quietest 3.5" hard drive I've ever used. Idle n...
