Don't get one of the basic 500mhz ones if you intend to playback divx/xvid videos, they can't decode the video fast enough, anything around the 1Ghz mark will be fine though. There are various models with different features and expansion options, without knowing exactly what you will be using this s...

I use a Ninja, passive motherboard, and passive VGA cooler, all cooled by a 140mm fan blowing across the motherboard, running for ~8 months now with zero problems. I believe there is enough turbulence caused by various bits and mobo components to mix the airflow up and cool all the heat sensitive co...

Silencio is your man; voila! 120mm Yate loons for just over a fiver, and he also does a few other makes like scythe, pabst, aerocool.
There should be a thread somewhere on here with feedback from SPCRers who've bought from him before, try searching for "Silencio 777". Enjoy.

Personally I would just whack the fsb up to 250, giving the CPU a bit more than stock voltage to start with then working down, also make sure the RAM is getting the voltage it requires. There is little benefit in increasing the speed of your RAM and keeping the CPU at stock speed. With the fsb at 25...

I moved from a 2.2Ghz AthlonXP to an X2-3800 and feel it was worth every penny of the full retail price , if you can get one cheaper than that, and have the money to spare, then I don't see your dilemma. Even if you're not going to make full use of both cores, just having an extra core in windows is...

Pilot : The A7N8X does in fact allow undervolting, the BIOS seems to only allow overvolting, but if you use 8rdavcore or other software, you can undervolt by quite a large amount compared to a desktop chip. From what I remember, my A7N8X deluxe didn't recognise my mobile chip and set it to 6x100Mhz...

I'm in a similar situation to you, slightly different components but a fanless VIA-based HTPC streaming media from a server. I keep meaning to swap the hard drive for a CF card, but it's so quiet that I never seem to get round to it. I have a different EPIA board to the one you're proposing, though ...

Actually the max case temp and TDP for each revision E chip is different. Use AMD64 TCaseMax to find out these values, available here.

Short answer; Yes. People, inlcuding myself, use Ninja's fanless on hotter CPUs than yours. Unless your airflow is very bad in your case, you should have no problems. If it is too warm for your liking, put a slow fan on the ninja. Your temperature will depend on too many variables, so I cannot predi...

I have a similar setup to what you're proposing (x2 3800, Ninja, passive graphics card, A8N SLI premium) with fairly low airflow. I've never tried running it entirely passsive, the graphics temps are a bit too borderline for that, but the chipset heatsink is always pretty hot to the touch, more so t...

As requested, another photo, from further back. The ninja and vm-102 are pretty close, but not so that there's any danger of them interfering with each other. The vm-102 is a lot thinnner than the vm-101, which I don't think would fit unless you put the card in the lower pci-e slot. I don't think th...

Thanks, I will give Powerstrip a try. As requested, here is a picture of the VM-102 installed. I apologise in advance for the crappy picture-phone quality. Dynamic over/underclocking a 7900GT???
Hi, recently got a 7900GT (quite a step up from a 5200fx), the stock cooler made my ears bleed, so have put a VM-102 on it. Temps are better than the stock cooler by a few degrees, but I want to able to run the case fan at lower speeds, without anything catching fire. Also I would like to overclock ...

With eight 3.5" hard drives in a case, it will not be close to quiet. The hard drive noise will drown out all of your fans combined, so don't invest in any passive coolers or quiet fans. With regards to the case design; it looks like there's about an inch or so of space between the hard drives and t...
