Re: Noctua introduces twin NF-A12x25 NH-U12A CPU cooler

Abula, just curious, do you believe it would be possible to squeeze a couple of more dBA's and a couple of degrees out of the Noctua NH D15S with a Silent Wings 3 instead of the stock fans? Not sure what you are saying, more dBA's? you want more noise and less temperature? Get some Thermalright TY1...

Phanteks has indeed some very interesting cases.
After looking into them, I'm waiting to see what P500A will bring, it should come in June.
While this is not the P500A, a review just came up, maybe it interest you, Phanteks P300A Cheap Airflow Case Review: Thermals, Extra Fan Tests, & Noise

Re: Looking for decent case for M-ITX build

Some recommendations, Try to avoid Mini ITX factor if you want a quiet setup, unless you are building on HDPlex/Steacom passive cases. In my experience, most of my builds on ITX are much nosier, given that cant fit big coolers or have so much cramped up that airflow is not ideal, etc. Since you have...

Re: Should airflow be prioritized with cases?

For example, given these 3 cases: Silverstone RL06 Pure Base 500 Pure Base 500DX Which one would you pick? Only Pure Base 500 is specifically designed for silence. However, the higher the temps the more noise from fans will take place. Out of the list you posted, I would take the Pure Base 500DX, h...

Re: Time for a new rig

Apparently 3600 RAM is in most parts better than a little bit more expensive 3733 one, even though that would allow for a better multiplier. I honestly didnt fully get the reasons for it that are explained in some reviews. Looks like the 1:x clock ratio might lead to instability of certain controll...

Re: Time for a new rig

The only thing I want is a passive cooled mainboard. If you are willing to drop PCIe 4.0, then go with B450 like MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX , great value mobo with decent VRM heatsinks and because its a B450 it has a passive chipset, I have done 3 builds on it one of them a 3900x and all working flawles...

Most of the time Air is quieter than Water, but if take a 9900k and OC heavy you will create so much heat that water will be likely quieter than air under those conditions. I no longer peruse OCing as i used to, i still do it for benching a new pc, but i leave it at stock for 24/7 use, as i prefer q...

As I stated before: Why upgrade to the 2016 standard, at an overprice? The desired lifetime of the computer is the main reason to stay clear of these Skylake(++++...) CPUs. AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor Great CPU, specially on a budget. Down the road you can always get a used 3900/3800/3700 if you need it, but for now i think the 3600 is more than enough for gaming. I would wait for Z490, should be released very soon, and 10 core is coming, maybe could be worth it to you since your upgrade cycle is long. I would stay on intel iGPU should be enough for anything aside from gaming.

I didn't try any other configs than the ones that i posted tables. The fuma2 is a very capable cooler, but the NH-D15S is better, imo the best that i have tested as long as you use two fans and i prefer the S version.... so that means you have to buy the second fan.... so becomes expensive, weather ...

Node 304 is a nice case for your intended use. If you plan on going above 6 mechanical hdds in the future, but you want to remain somewhat in a smaller factor also consider: SilverStone DS380B - Mini ITX case, holds 8x 3.5 drives, only takes SFX-L PSU, but you gotta be careful with the motherboard h...

Thats a great case. On the LGMRT, have someone help you hold it while installing the screws, i can do it alone but first time was much harder since you are screwing over a hole on a massive heatsink that its asymmetrical. Hello Jim, Welcome to SPCR Based on my reading, the approach I'm taking is to have all of components be as individually quiet as possible. In particular, I'm looking at as many semi-passive components as possible. My hope is that, when idle, there are no fans running at all. It can be done, but i do...

I would buy the BL067, if you need more than 1000rpms on the case fans, it wont be quiet and you should re think your build toward better cooling even water, so for me the BL067 (1000rpm version) is the ones i go with. On the 120, if money is no object i would go with NF-A12x25 PWM, now if they are ...
