is it loud at 5v? or 12v? if its loud at 12v, run it slower?
you might have a mounting problem, because my 3200+ peaks at about 45C with the same cooler at 5v...and my case isnt as good as yours

A fanless PSU isnt going to benefit much since you would need to run the exhaust fan faster to get rid of the heat. yeah thats what i was thinking...it kinda defeats the purpose of a fanless PSU when you need to run your exhaust fan faster :( when i get together the cash, i think ill go for the P15...

i was thinking of getting the phantom 500 (if i did go for a fanless PSU) because it does have that handy back up fan for when it gets uber hot. i was kind of conserned about the other fanless PSUs because it does get rather hot in the Australian summer (35C is not uncommon) and i wouldnt want it to...

Fanless PSU, OR P150

Since ive got quite a loud PSU and a pretty average case, i was thinking of getting the antec P150 (when ive got the cash)... however i also thought that just getting a fanless PSU (such as the phantom 350, 500, or silverstone) would save me some money, and would be a good base if i decide i need to...

As Thomas was hinting at, this isn't really a good way to look at it. Though you may have spent $50 on that hsf, maybe you were able to buy an OEM processor and saved $20 from not needing the stock heatsink. That Samsung hard drive that you bought probably only cost you $5-10 more than getting a WD...

Re: Why is everyone bashing Zalman?

Well, you'll have to excuse us, most of us care more about acoustics than aesthetics. Heck, my computer is downright ugly. It's sitting on a shoe shelf in open air amidst a mess of cables going to and fro the router, the access point, the desk lamp, etc. How often do I look under the desk to watch ...

i guess it really all comes down to how quiet you want your PC. if you want SILENCE, then you have to get the ninja. if you want QUIET, you would go for a zalman because they are alot cheaper. Just to be cheaky... If you want SILENCE you go passive.... Sorry in advance... :? isnt that what i said? ...
