Yes they've been using that particular panaflo for awhile. Supposedly it's better db/airflow performance on higher pressure applications such as a CPU heatsink. I'm not sure it works out that way at sound levels SPCR regulars would consider quiet though. I saw some testing several months ago, you mi...

Probably just no fanmate or fancy packaging, maybe no goop. There is an OEM version that's all aluminum so be careful of that. (unless you want the even lighter version)

This is cool, but you have to wonder how cool/warm this chip will be. It's integrating four cores afterall. Powerful, low wattage cores, but I'd not get to excited about any chip until it's released and evaluated by independant sources.

There's been some momentum building for a long time. Really as pc's got hotter and louder the result has been more and more people interested in quieting thier pc, which can become a nearly enldess loop in which you always want it to be quieter, which pushes the business of silent/quiet pc's forward...

If you can get the Seasonic Super Silencer or Super Tornado 400 they will do great. I think they have one model over 400 watts if you really want. Nearly silent at idle, not so silent under load. If air cooling I prefer the airflow of the tornado exhausting hot air from the CPU, but with water cooli...

Well, I wouldn't buy the A64 3200 as it's just to expensive for the small gain, the rest are good choices though imo. Actually I just noticed this cpu took a big price drop today, so while it's still beyond what I would recomend for a cpu it's an okish deal now.

3) yes - use arctic silver 5, you should get a few degrees better performance. don't get nanotherm pcm+, however, it'll damage your heatsink.
They've added some anti-oxidation agents to PCM+ and the new revision is a very nice choice.

It's just slightly louder than a Panaflo L1A, and seem to have better airflow. I'm going to pick one up this weekend with some other stuff before I decide to replace all three of my 80mm's. I haven't gotten a chance to compare in an really quiet environment.

As mentioned, Abit has SpeedFan for the CPU on several newer boards. I know the IS7 has this feature and it works nicely. The AI7 have the 'guru' chip that controls the CPU and Northbridge fan headers.

A few things. Case - It's all personal preference as long as you don't get a piece of junk. Some cases require fan replacement, sounds like you're on top of this. Power Supply - Consider the Super Tornado if you can purchase it locally to easily return any whiners. I found it to lower my CPU temps b...

I bought some of both sets and I find myself having a slight preference for the Vantec, after expecting it would be the other way around. First off let me say both are as expected very similiar. Antec's material seems a bit softer as well as a bit thicker, and I believe it would be the best if you h...

I considered it, but really there is little extra airflow would benefit in that area. And there is the problem of 40mm fans relatively poor cfm to db ratio. And finally the vents would be VERY restrictive without serious modding, the holes on mine are not very close together at all.

Talz, did you mean you would NOT recommend the Zalman PSU? The Seasonics are probably no worse than any other PSU in reguard to lemons. In general, the last time I checked their PSU's were 65-70% efficiency depending on the model. I think the performance models are 70%, which is decent. But it is hard for a PSU putting out 400-500 watts to stay cool without some significant air flow.

Well advice here depends on what you plan to do. If you have a case with decent airflow the super silencer that was mentioned is a good choice. The super tornado will give better airflow though, which especially of benefit if overclocking, or trying to help a case with poor airflow. I would probably...

While I can't answer your question, I can say the PC Power & Cooling is great, but as you said loud. And while the voltage regulation is amazing, their efficiency is not so great, I would be leary of putting anything less than 30 CFM in one.

VGA Silencer does not fit on IS7

Just wanted to drop a warning to people. The Arctic Cooling VGA Silencer will not fit on an IS7 board with the new revision heatsink. (larger blue/green, mini-zalman wannabe). The big blue chunk of plastic that is part of the rear retention clip of the VGA Silencer just sticks out to far. You might ...
