Re: Antec Solo and motherboard with forward facing SATA cont
If the forward facing SATA connectors are at the top 4 inches or so of the mobo, then you might run into interference problems with the bottom 2 5.25" bays. Anything below that, and your clear, because the 3.5" bays is offset from the motherboard wall (hence allowing you to route cables behind there...

Antec 300. Huge front air intake, around $50 new. Only thing is you have to swap the right and left panels to rid of the side fan hole, and block the top hole with foam of some sort.~El~Jefe~ wrote: A large front intake is the most wanted part.

I noticed in your last pic there you also have that dirty white fingerprint stuff on the front of the case. I've noticed many Solo's have that, including mine, and I was wondering how you remove it.

Hi, What speed is the rear exhaust running at now? Can you increase it to ~800RPM and see if that helps the PSU fan stay quieter? http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/4530/hwmonitora.jpg Temp 0 is CPU Temp 1 is mobo/ chipset Fan 0 is CPU fan Fan 1 is exhaust fan Increasing to around 800-900RPM leads to a...

Hi, Very clean build! That Seasonic PSU has the ball bearing Adda fan, right? I like using the GlobalWin NCB fan in the PSU -- are you up for a fan swap? A duct might help cool the CPU better, or maybe if you ramped up the exhaust fan a little bit faster? The Arctic fan being frameless means it may...

I have the same M3A78-EM board. The CPU header is PWM only, which I tried using AC's "PWM sharing" technology with the exhaust AC 12 PWM. The result is, no matter what temperature startup in the bios, either the fan would spin too fast, or the cpu idle/ load temperature would be too high. After play...

How are the hard drives cooled? there is no front air intake; instead they've chosen to keep the 120mm fan blowing up between the two compartments at the bottom. I think the case is unnecessarily large, heck there is enough space to put a PSU at the top of the case! The only use for that top space w...

Just a thought; Antec 900, with its 5.25 bays all the way down allow for easy HD suspension. Air filter at front, with very low speed intakes (if any) and an exhaust at the back. PSU on the bottom to keep it cool. Huge fan atop to aid passive CPU cooling. The largest source of noise would be the dir...

Re: Building silent pc using "old" non silent case
Or maybe I'm too optimistic and AM3-DDR3(SLI) will only take a lift-off next year? :(. Notice I said *yet*. Even if the 980i comes out with AM3+DDR3+SLi, it probably might still be out of your budget, so anyways your out a year at least before it becomes affordable. And in a year, Intel or AMD will...

Re: Building silent pc using "old" non silent case
I want AM3 and DDR3 - I want optimal SLI setup, thus 2 x16 pci-e slots (to compensate my "sucky" cards? xD) Sorry, but these things don't come in one package (yet). If your going SLi you'd have to go Intel, and if your going Intel you might as well get an i7, and if you go i7 your going to have to ...

The distance between the 120 mm fan in the bottom and the GPU seems to be the same as before, which will work out just fine. Would you recommend cutting out a 120 mm hole in the bottom of the box too, or make it another size or something? Maybe cut it out somewhere else in the box and make some kin...

Dunno about the idle temps, but I'm happy if I can run the system on just 2-3 fans, really. :) One blowing in the cool air and the other one blowing it out (and then one for the CPU). That being said, I guess I should do some research and figure out which of these two I'd prefer to use. Unless, of course, one is clearly and to the vast majority of informed observers superior. I'd opt more in favor of keeping the HD's in the case, I think you can fit them.Use a front to back airflow design similar to what you see in BTX OEM's now: http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/5967/style2m.jpg For this you'd have to have a pretty much unrestricted front intake, so you could replace you...

the front bezel looks restrictive..? It would seem the bezel intake/filter(?) is way smaller than the intake fan's size. The AMD stock cooler that came with the 89W versions of the X2 (the 3 pin wire) are fairly quiet at idle, provided your bios supports 3 pin CPU fan support (Asus 780G boards don't - they run @ full speed, not sure about Gigabyte). I had mine idling around 700RPM's (33*C on a 5600x2) and it was unnot...

Re: Power cable (4 pin ATX) doesn't reach my mobo :(
Got an old mobo and PSU with the 4 pin connector? De-solder the 4 pin female connector from the mobo, and cut the male 4 pin wire from the PSU and join them together. Volia- a PSU extension that won't void your warranty.
