Possible to Silence Quietish 3.5 HD?
I have a Samsung P80 in a Scythe HDD Enclosure and am not too happy as I can still hear the seeks :(, currently the setup is in an Akasa Eclipse case. I'm tempted to wrap the drive in foam (or other material) and put it in the bottom chamber of a P180. Then install a fan at the front (using the mod ...

I must say that this PSU in idle is quiet like seasonis SII-12 in idle.

honestly its worked perfectly fine with me and they wouldnt have produced so many sonatas 2 if it were so dangerous and i doubt they did a revision of the PSU. SO if you say 450W is enough then i suppose I'm fine. Although on another forum somebody said 600-650W minimum, so I'm not sure what to thi...

Jab-tech has 120x20mm Yate Loons available....cheap. Before any case mods, I'd certainly try a few of these new fans, since they'll fit relatively easily. My examples are plenty quiet. Thank you :) Visited Jab-Tech yesterday and didn't notice them and have just had another look and found them. Migh...

This is a good mod, but... I don't really see the point. Why bother with this when you can just install a 20mm thick fan, which is relatively easily available, and not have to mod the case irreversibly? With this, you lose the ability to lock the lower HDD cage and also room for cables behind the h...

I have bought the PSU (FSP400-60HLN). Fan is loud... like I've expected, but PSU+exhaust air is cold in idle (didn't try load yet) Only problem is that cables are really short (specialy ATX cable) so Im not sure if they will fit in new antec P182 which I will buy in some days... A Blue Storm 350W I...

I would try the Yate Loon/Chieftec fan rather than the Xilence fan. IMO the Xilence won't be quiet whereas the YL is a tried and tested fan. Fans I've used in Seasonic 400W Tornado and Forton 350W psus Sharkoon Silent Eagle 1000rpm Aerocool Turbine 1000rpm Coolermaster (can't remember the rpm exactl...

I've got a Coolermaster Aerogate II and it makes a couple of beeps when I start the PC. I put a bit of BluTack on the internal speaker and now it makes muted beeps which are much less annoying When the beeping starts, just push the round knob. I found this out on accident one day and it helped me k...

Samsung SpinPoint M80 80GB Sata (HM080HI) is the most silent drive ive had so far except for the legendary 40GB samsung. The HM080HI is a single platter drive with perpendicular recording. I'd highly recommend it. On the subject, does anyone know when we'll see 120 / 160 GB single platter drives? M...

Here's my contraption. Made it about a year ago I think. A bit of elastic string (used for clothing), 6 metal pieces to hang it up, some screws, the bottom of a broken floppy drive for support and some zip ties as a fail safe mechanism. Works great! Do you notice any improvement if you remove...

I've used a Noisetaker clone (fans removed) in the lower section of a P180. I have an older Seasonic Tornado but I'm not good at modding so gave that a miss. IMO you would be better off with a couple of 80mm fans as you can direct the airflow better towards the internals. Then again a 120mm with duc...
