Panamax M8-HT line conditioner - problem
I have a Panamax M8-HT line conditioner, and plugged into it are a Sony 40"HDTV, a blu ray player, and a comcast cable box. It seems to be working fine. Except, I occasionally plug a laptop into it while working on the laptop. When I unplug the laptop from the Panamax, the TV turns off. Any ideas wh...

IE7 random freezes
I have IE7. It will randomly freeze every several times over the course of a couple of hours. THere isn't any pattern to the websites. I have Vista Home Premium. Currently I hve NIS 2009, but I had KIS 2009 prior and had the same IE7 issues. I googled and found a variety of posts about this, but no ...

Bad Axe 2 graphics card retention lever?
I have a Bad Axe 2 motherboard, and I recently upgraded my graphics card. In the process of removing the old card, I appear to have broken the retention lever. The card pushes into the slot with no issues, and I have no problems tightening the screw. Is there a problem with the rentention lever not ...

Do you have a multimeter? If so, I would check the leads coming in and out of your fan controller. Did you change any of the power wiring when doing your upgrades? If so, I would guess that it is the most likely source of your changes. I don't have a multimeter. I didn't change any of the power wir...

Couple of upgrades - case fan louder
I just recently upgraded my graphics card from an X1950 Pro to an HD4850. In addition, I repalced an Asus DVD Rom drive with an LG Blue Ray burner. Everything else in my case (Antec P180) is exactly the same. This includes 4 Papst 4412 FGLL fans: two intake and two exhaust. I control the fan speeds ...

Any comments on the 4 GB kit at New Egg that does not show up as compatible, but has specs similar to my current 2GB kit? Well, it doesn't come up as compatible, because motherboard suppliers only test very few types of RAM with a specific board of theirs. I reality, about any DDR2 ram stick is com...

The most memory intensive stuff I do is video editing - using Vegas Pro 8 software and HDV footage. Other than that, I play Half Life 2 on occasion. The 4GB memory that looks most like my current memory in terms of specs is this kit: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148212 Ho...

I wouldnt run that RAM at 2.2v. No heatsinks and not rated for higher than 1.8v. You should be ok pushing it up a bit though. To be honest though, you'll gain very little actual performance by overclocking the RAM, i would stick with default timings and voltages. There shouldnt be any compatibility...

2GB to 4[GB] memory question
I am looking to replace my current 2GB Crucial ram with a 4GB kit. When I first ran the memory checker on the New Egg site, I checked the D975XBX2 motherboard. This gave me a variety of choices. I double checked the box it came in today, and it reads "BOXD975XBX2KR". When I checked on New Egg using ...

Average Disk Queue Length question
I ran the Vista Reliability and Perfromance Monitor. Everything looked fine except one item. I had one message indicating the "average disk queue length is 1. The disk may be at its maximum transfer capacity due to throughput and disk seeks".
What should I do about this?

ViewSonic NX2232W LCD monitor
Does anyone know anything about the ViewSonic NX2232W LCD monitor? I'm interested in how it performs for video editing and gaming. How true are the colors? How fast is the response time? Other than being smaller, how does it compare with the Dell 2407WFP-HC performance wise? Is it compatible with th...

Dell 1502FP problem
I have a Dell 1502FP LCD monitor that is having an issue. It tilts such that the top of the screen is more forward than the bottom. I adjust it, and it makes a creaky noise and slants right back down. SHort of wedging a piece of wood or something to hold it up, and short of sending it somewhere for ...

Decent 2.1 speakers
My daughter's speakers blew out last night. She uses them primarily to listen to ITunes and YouTube, with an occasional game thrown in. I'm looking for a replacement set - not more than $150 but preferably less. I'm interested in suggestions for the best quality set I can get in my price range.

Vista - swirling spastic mouse cursor
In Vista, whenever I open a window in IE7, the mouse cursor does a brief imitation of a blue toilet flushing. When it is spending any time thinking, it flashes on and off in a rhater spastic manner. Does anyone else have this happen? Does anyone know of a solution?

Direct 10X ATI graphics card?
I have an ATI Radeon X950 Pro graphics card. Having finally upgraded to Vista, I'm starting to check out graphic cards that can handle Direct X 10. I'm interested in a card that has the same (or better) performance as my current card, and ideally uses less power / puts out less heat. Any suggestions?

IDE to AHCI question
I am getting ready to move from XP Home to Vista. My current setup is IDE. I'm thinking of switching to AHCI before I install Vista. Should I wipe the HDD first? Leave XP on the machine, make the change to AHCI and then install Vista? I've read that if you leave the OS on, change the bios from IDE t...

A couple of things to check: run cmd and from command line type "ipconfig /all". Does your wireless connection have valid IP address, gateway and DNS addresses? Also, it might be that the problem is with your encryption settings. This may cause the Windows wireless service to think that you're asso...

D-Link DIRE655 router wireless setup problem - need help!!
I just replaced my router - going to the D-Link DIR655. Setup worked fine for my desktop. However, I'm having an issue with my laptop. The laptop finds the wireless network connection, says the signal strength is excellent, and shows it as connected. However, when I try to open the internet, I get a...
