Anyone use a Dreamcast heat pipe?

Post by IsaacKuo » Sun Feb 08, 2004 5:40 am

Just curious--I know next to nothing about heat pipes, and would have no idea how to make a good heat pipe system from scratch. However, I do have an extra Dreamcast which has a heat pipe to cool the GPU. Has anyone tried using one of these to cool a GPU or CPU?

I say give it a shot, recycling parts out of old electronics is really cool IMO

I thought that they were used in laptops for long time before anywhere else.

Well anyways...

...I can't think of where I'd use a heat pipe anyway. My case is a homebrew so it's not hard to use ducting to make air go where I need, rather than use a heat pipe to draw heat to where the air is. I guess I'll keep it in mind if I ever try my hand at a fanless computer.

Thanks for the thoughts!
