How about the speak no evil monkey then?

Of course that might give the impression he's trying to suppress puke...

Or, we can always use a picture of a Delta with a circle + slash through it. I'm sure that will be considered flame bait in some o/c circles.

How about a potentiometer dial, in series with a fan? The dial is set all the way to "low", symbolizing a quiet undervolted fan. Here's a crude example picture just to give an idea:

Well, here's an idea...

A picture of a computer, with a little man next to it. He's leaning towards the computer, cupping his ear with one of his hands.

See, this indicates that he's trying to hear the computer, but can't. Anybody got the artistic maad skillz to draw a cute cartoon character doing this?

How about some sort of monk meditating next to the computer. They like peace and tranquility.

If we do ever create a logo we can have s little 1' "SPCR inside" badges printed up for our silent computers

With enough of us they would only cost a $1 a piece maybe more since one of use would have to mail them out to other members, they come in packs of 125.

http://directron.com/badges.html

Who knows, mike C could sell them for a profit *cough* Donation.

I hope we can come to some resolution with this project......Here's my idea, but someone with artistic skills will have to do it.

SILENCE
IS
GOLDEN

Now take the word GOLDEN, enlarge it slightly, fade it somewhat, then superimpose SPCR over the middle of the word......maybe in gold letters.
Wish I could do it. Maybe one of you guys? :D

I very much like the idea of the "meditating monk" next to a quite PC :).

If well done, that ought to look REAL nice :).

My 2 p's worth at any rate.

PhilgB.....thanks. That's getting there. I'm not wild about the fonts you used, but that's close. I was thinking of centering SPCR over GOLDEN. Sort-of like SPCR was replacing golden in the Silence is Golden phrase. :D

Maybe we should make two 1inch logos

That "Silence is Golden Spcr " sort of looks like something my Parents would hang on the wall.

@ 1in a logo would be easier to see than an ornate 4 word catchprase/mantra. The letters would be too small

PhilgB.....I appreciate your efforts in this project. But I'm not the graphic artist. You are. I'm not sure if the "Silence is Golden" thing will fly, but this last one is better.

How about....

Image

I like PhilgB's font's better... so here's the PSD and you can modify it any way you like: http://zagraf.com/spcrlogo.psd
Here's the clipart of the babycrib: http://zagraf.com/babycrib.ppt

Here's the smallest I could get it while still retaining the original's message:

Oh, and if you decide to modify mine, please include the psd file as well, so we could get an open-source logo movement going here. :P

You could use a ninja. Ninjas are silent, and deadly.

I thought "the smelly ones" were also silent and deadly.

Hmmm ...

... ok, so it's bad. I apologize :).

Hmmm, aren't those silent but deadly? In any case this should probably not be part of the logo. :D

Got it.

I really liked the ninja idea, and this was the first cute cartoon ninja I thought of. I remembered it from a game review like last year. (The game is I-Ninja)

http://www.km.ru/images/game/001/INinja_75.jpg too.

This is by far the best idea so far imho. Anyone with the drawing madskills? :)

Assuming I haven't missed any of these ideas already having come in the now-unavailable images or otherwise...

How about something like this:
Image

Or a red-crossed out jet engine...

Image

...or pneumatic drill

Or a fan powered by a bike pedaled by a turtle, or maybe a fan colored/textured like a turte(although that's probably too subtle)

We kinda do now. You can see it in most of the recent pictures on this site, and we even have it on a computer case already.

Now all we need are T-shirts. 8)

We could probably do with a mascot though... assuming Miss Kitty isn't up to it, :P
