DO YOU HAVE A WINDOWED CASE?

Post by sotacs » Sat Jun 12, 2004 12:05 pm

To Window or not to Window…That is the question

Do you have a case worth bragging about?
Does it have a window?
How about a custom paint job?
I'm curious to hear about it.

I voted "No I don't have a windowed case, and I don't want one".

My case has no windows, no custom paint job, no blue lights... nothing :)

To be honest I think all that mooding stuff looks tacky.

I had a windowed case... found it over rated........ the techno geeks that I know that want to see into my case want to SEE into the case so the side panel always comes flying off.

And I am not about ready to cut a window into my new PC-V2000.

No I don't have a windowed case, and I don't want one.

I don't really see the point of them myself. If I need to see in my case I will probably also need to be fiddling with the inside of my case and I can't do that through perspex.

Perhaps if I was redecorating my room and was aiming for a high-tech feel it might be worth it but it's not likely. My landlord wouldn't be impressed for a start.

I don't have one, and don't want one either. I don't really have anyone to show off my computer to anyway, so it would be pointless. Also, to get it to look cool (lights, etc.) would be a waste of money that could go toward silencing.

Can we have another category?

I have a windowed case but don't want one. I ordered a non windowed version but they were out of stock and decided to send me a windowed one instead (admittedly of higher value with other nice accessories). Anyway it really dosn't make much difference since the tower is on the floor with the window almost against the wall so I decided it wasn't worth the hasstle to get the case changed.

It's all a matter of preference....you like it or you don't like it. Big deal. Done correctly, with two panes of real glass (photo), a big window can be quieter than a solid steel panel, because it's heavier, and acts like an insulation panel.

It's a useful mod for me.....I don't have to take the panel off to show curious visitors the inside. I can examine interior additions for condition, for dust, etc. I mounted a two channel temp monitor inside, visible through the glass. I had a clearance problem with the top of my Zen cooler....the extra 3/4" clearance solved the problem.

Plus I like the looks. I put a lot of effort into the computer and like the work visible. Don't like windows? The answer is easy.

I had actually guessed before voting that at a place like SPCR most wouldn't have and wouldn't want windows. I must say I am relieved to discover I guessed correctly (so far). For me having a window case is like having a red flashy car, to show off. I don't have anything against them, they just arn't for me. I like to show off by making my computer really hard to hear, the problem is that when my friends come over its not something they notice, infact its something they DON'T notice. I guess that means I'm doing a good job...lol.

function over form!
