Epox Pentium-M motherboards

Post by MikeC » Thu Aug 05, 2004 9:54 pm

So it would appear that my earlier post about the Fujitsu P-M mATX boardwas wrong. It's not the first mATX P-M board. This one from IPOX, a division of EPOX, appears to be: IP-4MTI2H Socket 478 Micro ATX Board for Pentium® M Processor. Press releases about this product date back to April (2004).

The board, like the other two smaller Intel 855GME chipset boards by IPOX, is aimed at the industrial markets. Retail pricing could not be found on the web. We'll see if SPCR can tease out a review sample.

Cool! I'd really like to see how Pentium Ms can be applied to desktop systems, or SFF ones in terms of performance, heat, and noise

Total power draw (not just CPU power draw) will be interesting to see as well.

From quick visual inspection, it appears that the IPOX board unfortunately doesn't have an AGP slot. This could make it a no-go for those in the "quiet power-computing" school of thought.

You can get the IPOX motherboard board via mail order from this Japanese web site:

They are also selling the Fujitsu Pentium M desktop motherboard (which does have an AGP slot).

And it's only US$429 + postage and handling. :)

Yes - what a bargain...

And then there's that slight problem of not understanding enough Japanese to be able to place an order... :)
