I think the new cases were supposed to be shipping in March, not on March 1...

Nothing on Antec's website either - it's the same old 2002-era SLK3*** lines.

It does say March 1st on their website. That it even should be at the retailers by then.

Well, now it's March 30. Any news on the Fusion yet?

The VFD and control knob-less version is available, but not the Fusion. i'm guessing ther're probably having issues w/the VFD+media controls

Hm...well, this is going to be for an HTPC, so I'll wait some more.

Anyone know what type of heatsinks will fit in this case? I plan on using a 6150 mobo.

While there's no release dates here, there's at least official product pages (though hidden):

Seems to be getting closer...

I really want this case to put an MSI 6150 in. I just need to know what CPU cooler will fit, and what the right choice for CPU is.

Other than the face plate, the case is identical to the NSK2400. You have 120mm between the CPU and the lid.

I have the MSI 6150 (K8NGM2-FID) in the NSK case with an XP-120. It works fine but you lose the first DIMM slot. Another poster reported that the SI-120 didn't eat up a DIMM slot but I wonder about air flow. The SI-120 with 25mm thick fan would be just over 110mm high.

Based on SPCR's review of the NSK2400, it looks like you could use just about any AMD CPU you wanted.

I wonder how much it cost. I think on Cnet said it was going to be around 199 dollars.

100 dollars for a VFD, volume know, firewire port, and what else?

After hearing that it might cost that much, I think I'll go with the NSK2400.

Are VFD's available for purchase on their own? And if so, are there are recommended models or ones to avoid?

TIA

I just called the Rotterdam (The Netherlands) Antec office and they told me the NSK2400 would be in stock again last week of june 2006, and that the Fusion would be launched then too. Hope it will work out that way...

I PMed Antec Rep and he said 3rd quarter this year. This was well over a month ago though.

So many conflicting sources of info!

Early July is 3rd quarter, even if just barely.

Unfortunately, in AntecRep's PM, (s)he said late 3rd quarter, so July would seem unlikely :(

Antec's decision to re-use the "Fusion" name for this new case is a bit troubling to me.

Does anyone remember the "original" Antec Fusion from back in 2002/2003? IIRC, it was an HTPC-ish desktop style case. It was announced, generated a lot of interest in the various online forums, and it's release date was pushed back again and again until everyone lost interest, and it was ultimately never released at all. It was delayed so many times that it got to be sort of a joke.

Hopefully that won't happen again with this latest iteration of the "Fusion" name. :)

I like the nsk2400 and was interested in the fusion simply for the larger power supply. But if it never comes out, or if it is going to be substantially more than the 2400 I dont see the point.

A few of the US stores now have it showing up as "out of stock" on their listings, which probably means that they've gotten confirmed shipments from Antec. So it might be getting close.

$170-$190 seems like the US price point. Several are listing a $189.99 MSRP. That doesn't seem too bad, if you take the $75-$100 for the NSK2400, add in the $75 or so that a typical VFD+remote costs, plus the upgraded PSU ($10?), and the aluminum front and stealth drive covers.

NSK2400 is here but Fusion nowhere to be seen

Post by esmit » Thu Jun 22, 2006 11:20 pm

Well, the NSK2400 I ordered has shipped but the Fusion is still nowhere to be seen... I contacted Antec in Rotterdam again and it is supposed to launch end of june (thats this week) and be available first or second week of july (!)
