That BIOS-based software stuff is useless if you leave the computer running.
I always liked Lindows. It's got a slick interface and it's backed by the Linux kernel.
Although there's no way it could get into the mainstream and compete with Windows, it sure seems to do a good job of piloting an HTPC, where Windows can be outright overbearing.
