Gyration Mouse whine

Post by geobrick » Mon Apr 02, 2007 9:31 am

I have a Gyration mouse that, after 6 months, started making a loud high pitched whine. I could hear it from across a very large room.

Gyration's Tech support (which answered their phone very quickly with a human) had me disconnect the battery for 60 seconds (it was silent with no battery). After reconnecting the battery, the noise was much reduced (but still there at a non-annoying level).

Will the noise come back? I would guess yes but if it takes 6 more months, that would be fine. If it comes back tomorrow, I'll have to get Gyration to exchange it.

The mouse says GC15M on it but it is part of the GC1005M package.

Has anyone else out their experience this with a gyration mouse? I've read about similar issues with logitech mice (though my logitech cordless optical trackman - best mouse/trackball ever - makes no such noise).
