coil buzz most likely. Chances are if you return it the next one will do it too. There is suppose to be some lacyer type stuff that you paint onto the coils that stops them from buzzing, I dont actually know anything that has done it though. I would love to know if you do try that stuff though cause my tv whines and I would be willing to open it up and paint the coils with that stuff if it will shut it the #&*%^ up.

thing is a rma would cost me 40quid in postage, and if they hook it up to a average or even quiet pc they wont be able to hear it, itll be drowned out. i could also get a worse one or similer :\
i dont wanna open it up either :\

My Samsung 900ift has started to buzz too. One thing I noticed though is that changing the refresh rate can reduce/increase the buzz. You might want to try it.

Do LCDs buzz?

None in my (limited) experience have buzzed or made any noises at all. I'm sure at some level, they make some noise, but for all intents and purposes, they are silent. :D

Yes. Though they are usually quieter than CRTs. If you don't have a fanless computer or are not in a silent room, you may not notice it.

My guess is most monitors do have a buzzing noise. They just have a range of noise levels. I can hear my main monitor at home only with my near silent computer on after midnight (no other noise around).

Again, the room has to be pretty near silent. Right now at work, I can't hear my Dell monitor. However, if I put my ear right above the vents on the top, I can barely make out some coil buzz.

Two main things keeping me from upgrading to a 17"-21" LCD (1) my pockets are only full of pennies and (2) I still hear the gaming experience isn't as crisp on LCDs as it is on CRTs.
