It would be cool, if SPCR could do a review on the new Core Duo iMacs. On paper they look really nice and the price isn't bad. I'm just wondering how quiet they are from the box. They look like a good alternative for a second (silent?) hassle free computer.

In the hour and half or so that I spent with my brother's new iMac CoreDuo -- it is very quiet, and very cool running (though we were not stressing it), and even the CD/DVD/RW drive was pretty muted.

The entire world buys the new iMacs because they're so quiet. Thermalright goes out of business. EAR goes out of business. No more quiet upgrades, ever. So no need to know how to upgrade. SPCR closes shop.

The A8N32-SLI Deluxe is reviewed (thanks!), will the Premium follow (soon-ish)? The difference in power consumption is noted, but I'd still like to see the review of the Premium if possible

Especially in terms of feature set (I know its SPCR - but I guess both motherboard are relatively silent). I have a hard time finding any site reviewing both motherboards...

How long time does it usally take before an item is reviewed and this updates?

This thread hasn't been alive long enough to make an estimation of the general review/update pace. And different reviews take differently long time I suppose, so there is no "usually".

Depends what it is. We fasttrack or delay things based on our interest, problems that crop up, timing, etc. In other words, it'll be up when it's up (if it's up). Reread the disclaimer in the first post. We make no promises.

IMO, a lot of the noise seems to come from the 12x DVD drive. When it spools up full song, you definitely notice it's presence. I was thinking that one could deaden all of drive's mounting points to the case chassis with some rubber grommets or some such thing. Maybe some brown bread on the DVD housing itself would help as well?

Another interesting idea that I saw someone mention was to put the 360 guts into a PC case. Some guy actually modded a PC power supply to work with his 360 after he fried his 360 power supply:

Anyway, the 360 looks ripe for some cooling mods. I'm looking forward to a great article.
