Yes the A8-7600 certainly has been the performance per dollar champ, no question. I got it on sale for $80 roughly a year ago.
All the Kaveri APUs, are very memory intensive. DO NOT USE 1866 memory modules. Get 8GB 2133 dual rank. I got ADATA's 2x4GB AX3U2133W4G10-DR for mine. You will notice a significant performance improvement, roughly 10% by getting 2133 instead of 1866 . There's an additional 3-5% to gain from getting Dual Rank instead of Single Rank. DR being better than SR seems contrary to expecations, but it's been measured in tests. Notice terminology, DR is not the same...
Obviously this will make the cost go up.
Finally, the A8-7600 can also be run in 45W mode for lower power usage, and passive cooling.
