They didn't turn out as I had originally planned. I still don't have any temps because they won't fit in my shuttle.
A better design would have been one solid piece from the left to the right. These seem to emit a slight 'twang' with every seek. Still more testing to do.

Since the HS clamp to the sides of the HDD which is the most efficient heat conduction path, you could just try slipping in a pad ofdamping material like foam between the top fins and the top of the drive. This should decrease the ringing of the heatsinks and provide some noise absorption with little increase in temp.
