Been a long time lurker, but have decided to finally post my rig. This system started life last fall built in a SLK2650BQE case.. well, after messing around with it, adding a front fan, loading the chassis with Dynamat Extreme.. it was working pretty well, and running fairly quiet.
But.. reading this site is dangerous, and I really wasn't all that pleased with the airflow dynamics in the 2650 case, even though it meets the Intel TAC definitions.. so.. out went the 2650.. in came the 3000 case with an OCZ ModStream 450 power supply. I really liked the idea of the modular cable system.. since I got real sick of the "spaghetti" from the stock supply on the 2650.
Anyhow, the "Phoenix" (so named because it keeps rising from the ashes ) is based around an ASUS P4P800SE board, running a prescott P4-3.2ghz with 1 gig of ddr400, and an 80gig SATA Seagate ST380013AS,
Vid Card is an ASUS 9600XT.
Rear 120mm fan is plucked from the 2650 case, it had the good silicone mount washers and is fairly quiet. The stock fan that came with the 3000 was moved up front and running on the low speed is reasonably quiet as well.
I've left the stock cooling solution on the P4, as the Asus board is letting me scale back the spin on the fan, and at 2000rpm is acceptable.. if this wasn't an option I'd be tossing it. Besides this will maintain the warranty on the chip as well.
I'm getting some really reasonable temps on this rig now: 37c on the CPU, 31 on the Northbridge. 35c on the 9600xt. These temps will jump substanstially when running UT2004 for a while.. but still are better than how the system ran in the 2650, and all with a much nicer acoustic balance as well.
edit on March 6, added the pic.

There are no doubt countless others but these were the ones hidden away in my bookmarks.
