Heh. :) Lunch anyone? :lol:

Seems to be way overkill for a 4200RPM drive.

Good idea though.

What are the other parts in your computer?

All fans 12V -> 5V (about 1000rpm)

Hmmm. I'm sure it's effective in terms of dampening, but your 1000RPM fans will undoubtedly be noisier than a 4200RPM notebook drive so your enclosure doesnt' seem to serve much of a purpose. Notebook drives can take more thermal punishment than 3.5" drives, but you're covering it in cloth... I don't see how it can survive for very long.

i know heat conduction is worse than convection in this case

but i put 2.5HD in a aluminum case

and the temperature still maintain 30"C after idle all day.

in my opinion , temperature is not a hd killer under 40"C ,

use RAMdisk to put in IE temp file , Pagefile , Photoshop Temp ... etc can prolong HD's life

and i'll buy a fanless cooler to replace the CPU fan ~

If it's 30C that's really good and I underestimated the effectiveness of your solution. :) Good job!
