Another P182 fan install
Alright, everyone by now has seen a P182 and mine is nothing special. However, I did make some minor modifications that may be useful for others.
In the front of the lower HDD cage, there appears to be room for a 120x25 fan, but at 25mm thick, a "normal" fan is to thick.
I ordered several Yate Loon 120x20mm fans from "Cooler Guys" for $6 each. According to the published specs (and my ears), they are quieter than the Tri Cool fans.
Here is how I installed the fans, and tidied up my wiring.
With the case front removed, you can see the four pop rivets I drilled out, removing the bracket.
Here is the bracket with four new holes drilled in it to mount the fan.
The fan and it's new home.
Notice how the zip ties are run, so they do not interfere with the bracket reinstall.
The upper HDD cage fan mounted in the stock bracket.
If you don't own one of these, get one here cheap
However, screws will work in a pinch to remount the bracket.
Back in place, like it was meant to be.
Notice why you run the zip ties a certain way.
Also, make sure you mount the fans with the wiring in the correct orientation, for ease in hiding them.
Not only does the 20mm thick Yate Loon fan fit perfectly, it is thin enough that it does not interfere with the filter clips, so they can still be used.
Compared to the 25mm thick Tri Cool.
I also trimmed the slates on the doors to aid in air flow.
Need to run wires under the mounting plate?
Nothing a rat tail file can't correct.
All tidy...
Like I said, nothing radical, but fun nonetheless.

why such a tiny stock cooler in there?
as surprised as i am to see a pair of PATA optical drives in there, i'm not surprised at all. i just replaced my DVD burner, with another PATA DVD burner.
safe to guess it's an i7 920 with 6gb of RAM, ATI 4xxx series?
very clean build though
i'm just surprised that the P45 board i have has no floppy connector, yet your P6T has one.
I am not letting go of my Plextor Premium CD/RW and Plextor 760A.
Pretty "normal" build I thought compared to some of the systems I have seen here.
ASUS P6T (non deluxe)
6GB OCZ gold DDR3
i7 920
ATI Radeon 4670
I will eventually replace the stock CPU cooler with a Prolimatech Megahalems, but I just don't have the motivation to tear it all down in order to mount it right now.
Very quiet compared to the P4 machine it replaced. Once I get the server finished, I will come back to this and finish it up.

One fan blows across the GPU and the other across the drives. With the controllers set to "silent" mode, neither the GPU or MB temps break 40.
I will drop in the better CPU cooler this weekend, and I expect those temps to improve a bit.
Running a fan in the lower stock location was out, and I didn't want to run without one completely. For the hour it took me to do this, I think it was worth it.
