Diffrent Laptop HDD mod for NSK3400/3300

New holes in bottom of chassis and tray modded for laptop HDD.
M3, 8mm long by 5mm hex male/female standoffs are used to secure the HDD
with the original grommets.
ImageImageImage
Original cable door rotated 180° and new hole drilled for retaining screw.
That is a HEYCO SB-1500-21 snap bushing [33.6mm inside diameter] which
is just large enough to pass the ATX-24 connector when the wires are
flexed over and then turned parallel to the long axis of the connector shell.
The ATX 12V2 cable was replaced with one extending 54cm from the PSU.

Front of chassis modded for 120mm fan. Aluminum tape to stop recirculation
through upper 92mm fan port and I/O cut out. Rib removed from back layer of
bezel sandwich to reduce turbulence.

3.17mm thick ABS sheet filler blank. The mounting ears from the I/O cluster were
cut off with sharpened thin wall tubing, providing a rattle free compression fit for
the filler blank when the bezel is reassembled. Note the screws I added to secure
the arms of power button, because the original melted tab attachment failed.
This a glaring weak spot and detracts from an otherwise fine chassis.
Get on with it Antec! Make the power switch more robust.

Modded Cooler Master Hyper TX2 with Nexus 92 cools an Athlon64 3000+
[ADA3000AIK4BX] Venice. MSI K8MM3-V [MS-7181] K8M800 M/B with 1GB stick
of Corsair [CMX1024-3200] DDR 400, Gigabyte [GV-R955256D] Radeon 9550.
Travelstar 5K500.B [HTS545025B9A300] and Sata port with power tap.
Obviously not a gaming rig, however it is well equipped for the intended tasks
of web browsing, email and light word processing.

Looks like you are running with an intake fan and no exhaust, so the case is under a slight positive pressure. What is the thinking behind that?

Taking a page from BTX airflow. I am thinking the M/B is less likely to have a dead air zone with a fan pushing air over it, because the rotating flow from the fan outlet tends to stir-up the air column more than a fan pulling air over the M/B. Don't know if it will work. The NSK3300 has plenty of exhaust area at the back. If heat doesn't build up behind the CPU cooler, an exhaust fan may not be needed.
