Update on my solo build...

A month back I built this...

viewtopic.php?t=57894

Now the whine of the Intel stock fan is grating on me. I knew it wold eventually.

I have in my possession a Noctua 9B dual fan CPU cooler. Will only use one fan. So, I have never put a backplate on and want to be very careful taking apart a working machine.

I also have a GigaByte passive Video card with some cool heatpipes on it. Old, but probably faster than my built in solution currently.

I may put that in. I am also "testing" an SSD but will be selling it on ebay and waiting another round of SSD, I think. It is a nice 128GB Corsair NOVA.

I am really hoping the Noctua is as silent as the Noctua case fan i have which would mean my machine wold be an order of magnitude (almost) quieter.

thanks, Dave

Tuck some wires away. aka cable management. not harshing on you. just my opinion.

I need to put in the new cooler, so will consider what I can do with the wires then.

Still plenty of airflow.

It is a GigaByte board H55M USB3 with 4GB RAM, Core i-650 chip and I use the built in graphics that come with that board and chip combo. Antec SOLO case, Black.

I use a Corsair 128GB SSD and currently my CDROM drive is external.

It really has exceeded my expectations.

Of course, I have Windows 7 64 bit on there as well.

Thanks, Dave
