EVGA Classified SR-2 Case (designed not to be too loud)

Post by Spotswood » Tue Dec 07, 2010 4:28 pm

My latest commissioned build was for an oak and aluminum case to house a water cooled EVGA SR-2 rig. Even though the case will eventually hold four 140x4 radiators my client and I designed it to be as quiet as possible via the solid case doors that block the direct sound path from all of the case and radiator fans. In order to accomplish this the doors are built in such a way that they also function as air ducts, thus feeding cool intake air from the bottom of the case.
  • Form factor: HPTX (EVGA's SR-2)
  • Dimensions: 46 x 27 x 35 inches (HxWxD)
  • Weight: 161 pounds
  • Materials: Solid red oak and oak veneer plywood, .10-inch aluminum sheet, .125-inch angle, all stainless steel fasteners
  • Finish: black wood stain with wipe-on polyurethane, black powder coating
  • Internal drive bays: 37 x 5.25-inch
  • PSUs: 2x
  • Two custom radiator mounting brackets to hold 4 x 140x4 radiators
  • 140mm case fans (all rubber mounted)

Can I ask what your client plans to do with 37 5.25-inch drivebays? :o :o :o

I think you should sit a SFF PC next to it for size comparison. In fact, you could probably hide a few in there without anyone noticing. :D

I've been following your worklog on [H]ardForum, and the whole thing is quite an amazing piece of work. You spent so much time on small details to make sure it's all perfect, it's just beautiful.

Question: When the system is installed, does it come with a dedicated gasoline supplemental generator? I'd be willing to bet this thing would draw more kilowatt hours in a day than my apartment does in a month haha.

Really sexy case enclosure though!

Thanks guys!

With room for four loops, its not to hard to imagine filling many of the 5.25-inch bays with reservoirs, pumps and extra power supplies.

Yes, SR-2 rigs typically draw enormous amounts of power!

You can store a lot of porn in that case :D

Enormous but a really well built case, can't wait until your hardware arrives :).
