New big case - Cooler Master STC-T01+CM Stacker (E-ATX, BTX)
Cooler Master has a new case out:

Perhaps not an obvious silent cooling candidate, but it has interesting possibilities:
- two possible psu locations
- side mesh
- front facade perhaps easily moddable for ducting
Admittedly not many SPCR users need cases as big as this, but if you need a big case, then check it out.

Is it merely a coincidence the meshed side panel looks like a loudspeaker? The site says space for 8 fans, but unless there’s one secreted under that black cowling on the base panel, I count 7.
If you use silentmaxx type HDD enclosures, that fit only 5.25” bays, I guess this gives the opportunity to mount them behind a fan. And if you just used single 120mm fans front and rear, blocked the mesh side and the top hole.....otherwise it’s more suited for high end server use, requiring massive CFM.
The Cavalier is the most interesting new case from CM: http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewtopic.php?t=11189

One of the features of this is the 300mm cross-flow fan.
Now, on this topic, I have a few IBM PS/2 Model 95 (best PC ever, IMHO ) and they also feature a cross flow flan in the side panel (see here).
I always wondered what was the efficiency of those for cooling (regarding sound and improvement).

Translated review of the CM stacker
Not easy reading, but the gist of the review seems to say that the CM stacker, despite all of its inovative cooling changes, doesn't do any better than cheaper cases? This is dissapointing, as this was the case I was to use in my next quiet system. I thought that with all of the venting, all I would need is one very quiet fan to cool the case, and a water cooling setup for the CPU/GPU. All I was waiting on was for these cases to become available in the U.S. Guess I'll need to think about plan "B".

It's versatility (not to mention cooling potential) seem to be phenomenally good...

The thing that interests me the most is the way the entire front of the case is effectively a filtered air intake (except for maybe one or two bays occupied by optical drives). The filters should help keep sound in and dust out, but at the same time the filtered area is so enormous that the overall restriction on airflow should be pretty low. For a low noise setup, maybe a single 120mm fan at the back would be enough to cool even a high-end system...and there should be plenty of space for a "Prescott Pacifier" if your mobo will take it. I guess some of the other vents might need blocking somehow if you're going for maximum silence, but I think the case's versatility is it's strength - it looks like with little effort, you can configure it according to your exact system requirements.
It does seem for once as though some genuine thought and imagination has gone into this design...look forward to seeing it reviewed here if possible. It's also an awesome looking beast, at least IMHO...

If one could get a solid left hand panel I'd like to try this case with the Silverstone fanless PS.
Seems, to me, like it would be pretty easy to get decent air-flow through the power supply with even more positive pressure created with solid side panel using quiet, low speed fans.
Hmmm.......
.....Loud oise heard in backgroud as Nowhere_man's case explodes from extreeem positive pressure
