Observations on Lian Li PC-V1100B
Received my new Lian-Li PC-V1100B yesterday. I went from a PC-6070B, so didn't really know how much difference there would be as far as noise. I changed the fans out to Papst 4412FGL's and quickly realized the stock Adda'a were much quieter. I have 2 Nexus D12SL-12's coming. The hard drive mounting setup is a great idea, but a lot of access noise was coming from my WD 74G Raptor and Seagate 160 SATA drives. I had suspended my drives in the 6070B with the rubber bands from 2 No-Vibe cages. If the hard plastic pieces that the drives mount to in the V1100 were a softer compound or if the screws that are supplied that screw into the drives were rubber, the noise would not be transferred to the case nearly as much. I removed the forward drive cage for now, and using a technique I read on this forum, have the Raptor sitting on 4 motherboard mounts on a piece of rubber pad. Very quiet, and the Seagate is used as mainly a storage drive, so it is mounted in the rear cage. I will add that I really like the case, more room, will be quieter than the 6070 when I am done.

Not sure as to actual temp, but both drives are just slightly warm to the touch. Cut out the rear grate for the fan and installed Nexus 120mm's front and rear. Case is definitetly quieter than the PC-6070. Radeon X800 fan is really the only noise I am still hearing, which isn't much. May get the Thermaltake fanless PSU to replace the Enermax Noisetaker. Idle temps are 36 C with a 3.2GHz P4 with Zalman 7000.
No, the two drive cages are not made to be readily removed. They are riveted to the bottom of the case and the seperator above. Is easy to just drill them out. The drive cage from a PC-6070 fits in quite nicely, and I now have both hard drives suspended in it. There is room to have both drives mounted in Zalman ZM-2HC2's and have them on the bottom of the case.

Using a power supply with 120 fan in this case
Im thinking of buying this case and a Seasonic Super Tornado 400W.
Because of the different layout in the case I was wondering if a PSU with an 120 mm fan is good, or I should have SS Silencer instead (which I havent seen on a danish website).
Do you have any comment on that?

I am going with a Thermaltake Fanless when it is available.

If that does not work, I will go with the Nexus NX-4090. I think a Power Supply with a single 120mm fan on the bottom is a good choice. Not sure if the Silencer is a good choice because of just having the single rear fan. Due to the enclosed area of the PSU section of the case, a fanless unit may not stay cool enough unless it is designed like the Thermaltake to expel heat outside the case.
