Just can't seem to find the right case to buy in Canada...

Enclosures and acoustic damping to help quiet them.

Just can't seem to find the right case to buy in Canada...

Post by cyberknight » Sat Apr 16, 2005 8:20 pm

I'm looking to replace my Sonata, but I just can't seem to find the case. Seems there is such a limited selection for me to choose from in Canada. Anyways, hoping someone can help me out, here are the specs I am looking for:

-front and rear 120mm fans
-2 front USB and front audio in/out
-"normal" hard drive moutning (ie, no 90 degrees like in the Sonata)
-steel
-less than $100 (Canadian)

-preferably some ventiliation on the side panels (like SLK3000B style)
-preferably conservative and black
-preferably no PSU

How about the SLK300B? Can be had at NCIX for less than $80 CAD.

The coolermaster centurion 5 can be had for around 100. You can sell the PSU for 20 dollars. There is a newer revision with side ducts available without PSU but I've only seen it in the US.

Are you kidding me?

Check out NCIX on Broadway @ Burrard or FrontierPC just down the road.

MikeC lives in Van, and he gets tons of stuff.

The 3000B doesn't have front audio ports.

I'm sure Mike gets a lot of freebies and doesn't buy everything locally.

Only cases that are easily found in Canada are Antec, Coolermaster (mostly the aluminum cases), and ThermalTake cases.

hell man, lots of ppl recommend Vantec Stealth fans at the NCIX forum cuz there is likely hardly any other products to choose from.

I just went down to NCIX the otehr day to pick up some Nexus fans

And I just got my Xpider case from FrontierPC

It fits everything you want, except the front only takes a 92mm fan

Cost me $60

They've only got 2 left though.

My Sonatas are cool, quiet, handsome. Seriously... I think the next step for me would have to be solid state or it won't be worth it.

If you can get a case that looks anywhere near as nice as the Sontata and runs as quiet as a moded Sonata with front and rear 120mm fans, I will be blown away.

:)
