Hi,

what i'm referring to are the slides that i understand are required so that drives can be screwed onto the top level drive bays.

The drive rails need to be screwed onto the DVD / CD drive so that they fit flush with the bottom of the drive. IIRC it is the top hole of two that you use.

It took me a while to work than one out as well

Sorry if I have confused you further !

The rails DO go on the side of the drive - one each side.

Just line the rail up against the BOTTOM edge of the drive and screw in the holes that line up - that way the drive will slide on the rails in the guides nicely.

I spent many hours screwing and unscrewing the rails to get the correct holes !! Just make sure the rail is attached at the side of the drive so that it comes level with the base of the drive.

Another thing mate - the metal springs on the rail go towards the front of the drive - the rounded edge of the rail goes towards the back end of the drive. So when you push the drive in on the rails the metal springs hold the drive in place.

Almost forgot that pretty crucial point !

sorry bout this im either being very slow, very stoopid or both.

The brackets i have dont really have "springs" as such, there is a bit of what seems like aluminium on one end but the other is flatish.

do i screw the brackets onto the drive cage first then slot the drive into it ?

I know its a lot to ask but any chance of any pics ??

thx for ya time so far :D

No the rails screw on to the DRIVE not the case.

Screw one rail on each side of the CD/DVD drive using the screws provided. The aluminiun looking bit should face the front of the drive and the rounded edge of the rail should face the back of the drive (where the power plugs in)

once they are screwed on is the flat side against the drive cage, and do they screw into the drive cage or just slide in like a rail system ?

sry for all this but tried loads of combinations yesterday and nothing seemed right :?

cheers

Screw the rails to the drive.

Slide the rails/drive into the cage (be sure that the front bezel is removed).

You should hear a 'click' as the rails lock the drive in place.

If you need to remove the drive you press on the metals tabs to release the drive (ie these are the springs that woody described)

One day we'll get these instructions right so there's less confusion.

Finally got hold of some beer :)

And got the dvd drive loaded into the case.

I do it was one hell of a job, and if it hadnt been for the beer i'd have been scared stiff i might have snapped something.

there MUST be something i'm doing wrong , how do u get the clip to slot into place with the last 40/50 mm of movement i had to push the case against the wall then screwdrivers either side to push the "locks" back so they would go in.

Are you sure you've removed the front panel?

yep, the problem is the back end of the slot, unless the slots are pushed in it wont slot in.
