Seasonic s12 and A8N32 SLI just works, as long as you don't try to use SLI, in which case you'll need extenders for the wires.

hey Bob, I just got the A8N32 and a Seasonic S12-500 PSU.

Are there absolutely no problems with the S12 and A8N32 in the P180?????

Works with a Zalman?

Post by narrasuj » Mon Mar 13, 2006 9:57 am

Anybody try this P180 with a Zalman power supply (such as the one listed in my sig?). If it doesn't work, I'll just go for the P150 instead.

I have recently bought a new powersupply; Tagan 480W Easycon. Now I know that this psu is bigger than the usual, so, my question is, would it fit in P180B?

PS: Neo He 500w

Everything fits perfectly, with lots of room to spare.

Hello, Just joined.

I've just bought:

Case: P180b
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-965P-DS4 (LGA 775)
PSU: Seasonic S12 430w
CPU: Core 2 Duo E4600
Cooler: Scythe Ninja

Now the mobo is a bit ambiguous as to what I need to plug in - it has an ATX_12v_2x socket, but half has a removable plug. The Manual has this blurb:

ATX_12V_2X / ATX (Power Connector)
With the use of the power connector, the power supply can supply enough stable power to all the components on the motherboard. Before connecting the power connector, please make sure that all components and devices are properly installed. Align the power connector with its proper location on the motherboard and connect tightly.
The ATX 12V (2x4) power connector mainly supplies power to the CPU. If the ATX 12V (2x4) power connector is not connected, the system will not start. If you wish to install a power supply that provides ATX 12V (2x2) power connector, please connect the ATX 12V power connector to the
Pin 3, 4, 7, 8 of the onboard ATX_12V_2X power connector according to the pin definitions.
Important Use of a power supply providing an ATX 12V (2x4) power connector is recommended by processor manufacturer when using Intel Pentium D Extreme Edition processor.
Caution! Please use a power supply that is able to handle the system voltage requirements. It is recommended that a power supply that can withstand high power consumption be used (400W or greater). If a power supply is used that does not provide the required power, the result can lead to an unstable system or a system that is unable to start. If you use a power supply that provides a 24-pin ATX or 2x4 pin ATX 12V power connector, please remove the small cover on the power connector on the motherboard before plugging in the power cord ; otherwise, please do not remove it.

Both the 4 pin and 8 pin cables on the PSU are touch and go as to whether they'll fit (waiting for my Ninja to arrive tomorrow before I fit it all). But the 4 pin cable looks to be a bit longer. Can anyone work out from blurb above as to whether I can get away with the 4pin cable with my Core 2 Duo 6400? I'm using the full 24 pin conector and another 4 pin molex connecter on the board anyway.

And if I do have to extend the 8pin cable, the only place in the UK I've found that does one is http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/info_1982.html. Anyone know anyone cheaper?

When the cooler arrives tomorrow I'll let you know how well it all fits.

Cheers,

Alistair

Case: Original P180
Mobo: ABIT an8 sli 32x
PSU: OCZ Powerstream 420
Heatsink: Thermalright XP90

Comments: It all fits together. The big fat ATX connector fits quite well, with room to spare. The P4 connector, on the other hand, has some big problems. It's not long enough to loop around, and it's located in the worst possible location. It hs to loop under the video card, then stretch out taut and the connector forced in, or it won't seat properly.
The Powerstream is a longer ATX supply. Which means it's harder to use the lower chamber fan. Align it so the cable mass comes out of the Right of the power supply (when looking from the front) and then tuck the rest of the cables to the bottom.

To follow up, both the 20/24pin and 12v will reach everything, even the mobos with both at the top.

Antec P180B
Corsair 620W PSU

Does anyone know if the cables will be long enough?

Thanks.

Here's a HX620 picture worth a few words. That's the 24 and 8 pin cables there:

After an RMA of mobo and memory (likely caused by the mobo) I dumped my eVGA 680i board for a Gigabyte P35-DS3R. It's not much different than the 680i as far as cable placement.

What I did was to get power extension from PCHCables.com (inexpensive, fast, and don't rip you off on shipping) so I could route the power cable behind the motherboard. Some dremel work required.

I'd take a picture to post but I can't find any memory sticks for my camera.
