Sonata II or SLK3000b

Post by x31234 » Thu Jun 23, 2005 6:47 am

trying to make a decision here, I'm on a tight budget for my new PC. Wont spend more than what hte sonata II cost hehe, but I was thinking about hte SLK3000b I've heard some peopel say its very quite, sine I wont do any overclocking, I don't think my PC components will get too heated, so I'm going for silentness(sp?)

Since Newegg only has a SOnata II with the PSU already, I Was thinking if I get the SLK3000b with no PSU, I would also oreder a XClio 450w.

this is gonna be my new setup since I'm on a budget:

- SOLTEK SL-K8AN2E-GR Socket 754
- AMD 64 3200 Newcastle
- 2x512mb 3200 Corsair DDR
- 80g Maxtor 72000
- 40g Maxtor 72000
- Sapphire Radeon 9800pro 12mb DDR
- Lite-ON DVD Burner

btw does the Sonata II or the SLK3000b have a sliding motherboard tray?

Neither of them have a slide out/pull out motherboard tray.

The 3000b is a very good case, but you probably should get it somewhere else, because Newegg is expensive. I've never heard of the XClio, the popular PSU around here is the Seasonic S12. Since your on a budget, the 330W version should still be plenty of power. You might want to think about the DFI Lanparty for your motherboard. It costs more, but is a very popular 754 motherboard. I have it and have seen 4 people have it in the gallery forum, including Edward Ng. I'd also get 1 stick of ram because 2 sticks will probably make Cool and Quiet not work with your setup.

you can get the SLK3000B on amazon for $43. shipping is free since it's over $25. i ordered one a couple of weeks ago and it arrived promptly. shipping at newegg is at least $15.
