Recommended small tower w/o PSU ?

Enclosures and acoustic damping to help quiet them.

Recommended small tower w/o PSU ?

Post by zordex » Thu Jul 14, 2005 6:52 pm

Is there a good small tower available without a power supply?

The antec slk3000 series cases are too large,
The antec slk1600 series cases don't have the quality/features,
and the sonata itself (of which I have two) only comes with a power supply.

Thx for the help.

I already had a great powersupply and just needed a great case to go with it. I just gave up and went to the clone store. I bought the case I liked and simply ripped out the powersupply.

In the end, most cases are identical except for their PSU...

Take a look at an Evercase. The 4252 is a popular model. This is a "beige box" style case, but don't be decieved, it has much better airflow than usual.

I'd look at the Inwin line.

They have a neat m-ATX, and a similar ATX version. There's many options available too, such as no PSU, different bezels, different case fan sizes, some with CPU ducts, some w/o.

I use the inwin V5xx series cases and they perform well and can be quite effectively silenced (with a little modding) and they would be close to the smallest conventionally designed micro atx case available -
They get the thumbs up from me .
But get the version with the 92mm rear fan if you use an Intel CPU as it cools a little better for the same noise

do you need a micro atx board for these cases?

If you're referring to the "V5xx" series, yes you would as they're m-ATX cases. The slightly taller ATX cases will take regular ATX boards, as well as the smaller m-ATX boards.
